I chose the "Express International USPS" to Australia - it took 6 days. It says it takes 3-5 but everyone knows that you are lucky to get anything within 10 days, express or not. Definitely express seemed to speed it up.
It can get stuck at the airport in US depending on how many packages are going to Australia - once in Australia it was very fast to clear and i was in a remote location and it still came overnight.
So far its great, i made a video - will post that soon.

I think express definitely speeds things up. My keyboard took about 3 weeks to arrive, that was with USPS priority... USPS Express resulted in about a week as I mentioned earlier. I'm in a capital city too so it seems you've done well with 6 days!
Let us know how you're getting on with your new system and show us some benchmarks! -
Here is my unboxing video:
MSI1761 Barebone Unboxing_1.mp4 - YouTube
I didn't realise its a barebone of the GT-783, but since i have a 570m GPU i guess i see mine as a GT-780.
So far the benchmark was 3011 in 3d Mark 11 - which is higher than the small desktop i have which has a 2nd Gen Core i5 and a GTX550Ti GPU.
I want to figure out the command line to turn the "afterburner" overclocker too on and off with P1 touch key.
I addressed a few points in the video that people mentioned in various posts - simple things like the touchpad position and the screen-close sleep function. Just stuff that came to mind when i was first looking at it - even though they might be a non-issue for most people.
Cheers - and hope this is useful to someone. -
hi guys, i'm new here.

Yea man. Use Gentech. Ken will match any price and will also provide the BEST customer service bar none.

What i suggest - get it from one of the companies who give the option to have the diamond thermal paste such as Gentech. It makes the cooling system really, really efficient - this paste is a real miracle you can research on it. Its literally made of synthetic diamonds and the paste won't dry out like some cheaper paste. So in terms of cooling system you should be fine.WhatsThePoint said: ↑Do you already own an MSI Whitebook MS-1761
Not yet, i'm planing to buy this model but it's seem imposible to upgrade the keyboard here (Indonesia). I'm also woried about the heat isue. In my country the ambient temp reach 34-35 C.
will this notebook survive at least for 2 years?

The chassis seems very solid - its such a beast its got to be tough enough to go a few years at least.
The ASUS G74 is slightly lower in spec but it has an even more power cooling system so if you are really worried about cooling you might want to check that out. The cooling on it is on the back only - i like the way the MSI is on left and rear. Sometimes you might have something blocking one edge, some cloth or a cluttered desk - so the MSI has a vent on left and rear which reduces chance you will block your cooler completely. In practice a lot of laptop users put their laptops on beds and block all the airways so its a good design. I use a sleeve that has an open edge so that if the worst happens it can vent out the side of the sleeve (assuming i put it the correct end up in the sleeve). its a mighty big sleeve. I just had to get a rather large backpack to accomodate the sleeve and laptop.
MSI has a lot of features a bit above the ASUS but most of them are just niceties. Those are very noticable things though - i had a bigfoot wifi card 2 antenna - it works in places i had trouble getting signal before. The keyboard isn't particularly better than asus, a bit more tacitile but is lighting is awesome fun. The DYNAudio speakers definitely are excellent because if you have to lug around a big laptop it should have some things that beat other laptops.
Good luck with your buyClick to expand... -

Hey guys! I am new to the forum and am looking to purchase the ms-16f2. I am torn between 2 setups. Either the i7-2670qm, 750gb 7200rpm 16mb cache hd,dvd burner drive(satndard), 8gb 1333mhx ram and gtx580m graphics card or the gtx570m. I currently own a big foot wirless n 1102 card and kingston hyperx 1600 so those will be going in the new one. I love to play my games in 1080p at high settings. I currently own the alieware m14x which will be sold in a few days because at 1080p resolution it does not hold up. My question is is the gtx580m really worth it? Can obtain good benchmark/ gaming graphics on the gtx570m? I am very limited on money and the gtx570m would work out perfect. However if the increase to the gtx580m is outstanding than thats the route I will have to take! I look forward to your guys feedback! Any info will be greatly appreciated!

The 580gtx gives you about 25-30% better FPS. Whether that is worth the extra 365 is very subjective.
-
It may actually cost less than that now for upgrading from the GTX 570M to the GTX 580M with the refresh on the horizon and depending on who you go through.mtrein said: ↑The 580gtx gives you about 25-30% better FPS. Whether that is worth the extra 365 is very subjective.Click to expand...

That might be true in the next few weeks, but right now the cheapest I can see is 365.Heihachi_1337 said: ↑It may actually cost less than that now for upgrading from the GTX 570M to the GTX 580M with the refresh on the horizon and depending on who you go through.Click to expand...

I think powernotebooks has a sale now. Cheaper to get the GTX 580m now.
powerpro r 12:17 with gtx 580m, i7 2670QM, 8GB 1600, 750GB HD = $1,444
powerpro r 11:36 with gtx 580m, i7 2670QM, 8GB 1600, 750GB HD = $1,399
Of course, thats with the cash discount.
I just ordered the powerpro 12:17 in my sig. -
Nice config, but I'd go for the Bigfoot Killer 1103 wifi card instead.

I'm not sure about the 1102 and the 6230... Try to find some comparison review.

Check out AnandTech's Killer N-1102 review. Has compared all the laptop Wi-Fi chips with the exception of the N-1103.

Yes, it is. If you have a router that supports 5Ghz 802.11n, and also supports 3 streams, then you will get 450Mbps connection to your router with an 1003 (with the 3 antenna mod). You get 150Mbps per stream/antenna. Also the latency is reduced dramatically, I can get pings to speedtest internet servers as low as 5ms (depending on my cable congestion at the time). The 1103 performs well in terms of bandwidth and latency. My speedtest results in my signature are done using an 1103. WhatsThePoint has some even better ones!swiftden said: ↑Is it really that good?
