    All notebooks come with:
    • MSI 2 Year North America Limited Warranty / 1 Year Global Warranty
    • One Year Accidental Damage Protection Included

Don't overlook MSI's warranty requirements folks! Registering the notebook is simple enough, but requires an extra step beyond 'online' registration. After doing this online, you will receive an email that states:

Note: Your product registration is not complete until we receive your proof of purchase in the mail, which will not only confirm your product's warranty, but will also update your warranty's expiration date in our system.
I point this out because according to MSI's website, they must receive this within 30-days from the 'date of purchase'..... so don't delay! Also, after completing this process, I recommend later logging back onto the registration site, to follow-up on your warranty 'status'.

I don't see any reseller offer super raid on these yet, is it going to be on a different SKU? or will it be a add-on from reseller. Wonder how much will it come out to be after super raid added...

I don't think super RAID will be offered in the GT60s, didn't happen with the previous GT60 w/670M and Ken told us that there will be one SKU for the GT60.

    Thank you :)

An earlier MSI article ( HERE) seems to indicate the new GT60's w/680M will have SuperRAID 'support', but of course this is yet to be determined. The first SKU does not list mSATA in the specs, but perhaps you guys will find interfacing therein..... or perhaps this is something that will be seen in future SKU's. Read the article and then scroll down to the 'MSI GT60 Specs'.

I wish you guys the best in this regard. Hopefully mSATA or SuperRaid will be in the GT60's future, but in any event, you'll have awesome lil' notebooks nonetheless.

    :)

WhatsThePoint said previously that the GT60 in his country(Taiwan?) comes with Super-Raid. Anyway, We might see it in future SKUs. :)

So, I'm considering buying one of these over the Sager NP9150. The secondary hard drive is a huge selling point for me, however I was wondering how hard it is to install your own secondary hard drive? With the deals that are coming around on SSDs these days it is SO much more cost effective to purchase them from newegg or something and install them yourself. Is it hard/possible to install your own secondary hard drive in GT60s? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Its as simple as removing the backplate which gives you access to the CPU, GPU, 2 HDDs and 2 RAM slots, sliding the HDD in, and screwing the backplate back on.

Hi guys I'm new to this website and basically just signed up for information on the MSI w/ GTX-680M. This is the laptop I've been looking for. Anyway, I live in the UK and was wondering if anybody had any information at all of when this laptop will be released in the UK or when it will be available to buy. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am desperate to buy this machine!!

Heatsink will need some modding, so its better to buy a new heatsink which is relatively cheap. If you don't want to risk the upgrade, wait for someone to do it first; although I'm sure there will be people who attempted by christmas :)

Not sure about the UK, maybe any UK reseller/buyer may recommend.
I would look here though MSI Europe – Where to Buy

Hmmm I tried their website and it gives me a list of the retailers selling it but when I go to the retailer websites all I get is G60 w/ GTX-670M. I really want the upgrade but if its not coming to the UK I may just have to settle for less.

I'm looking forward to this laptop. I was going to get a Sager/Clevo P150EM, but I had a couple of issues with it that the MSI GT60 has solved.

The Sager/Clevo has a SATA II mSATA bay and a SATA III hard drive bay, but I think the MSI GT60 is more flexible with two SATA III drive bays. I also like that the MSI GT60 touchpad is centered on the spacebar instead of centered on the laptop like the Sager/Clevo implementation.

Centering the touchpad on the laptop makes sense for a MacBook that doesn't have a full size keyboard with the number keys on the right. For a laptop that uses the fullsize keyboard, the touchpad should be offset to the left like it is on the MSI GT60 to prevent people from resting their right hand on the touchpad while typing.

In the U.S., we expect the new 680M units to release sometime this week, and of course U.S. resellers already have these models listed for pre-order. Just a thought...... the U.S. resellers listed in the lead post of this thread often ship globally, and they are very familiar with all shipping, customs, and VAT tax requirements. Perhaps one of them will be of assistance.

Europe usually takes more time to get new technology compared to the US.
Anyway, Ordering from Europe cancels the VAT charges. (?)
I found this german site which had the GT70 W/680M, maybe you could contact them and ask them about the GT60?

Actually, the 2nd bay is SATA II. MSI put the two SATA III controllers in the first bay to make superRAID possible.
You need the superRAID adapter two use two mSSDs in RAID 0 @ SATA III speeds.

I guess its to compete in the market with 15"s like the Sager N9150P. There * MAY* be an incoming SKU with super raid. I'll let you guys know if any of this is happening :)

I'm planning on selling my GT780DX to get this beast. What do you guys recommend? Should I stay with what I have?
I bought my GT780DX beacuse of it's potential. However after 8 months of use I'm realising that I need something smaller and after seeing this I got pushed to upgrade.
What's the price for a used (kept in a pristine state with just an SSD upgrade and killerN 1102 card) GT780DX?
    Thanks

Thanks for clarifying that info. The MSI GT 60 configuration works for me because I am going to move the stock 750GB SATA II drive out of the SATA III drive bay and put it in the SATA II bay for storing files. I plan on using a SATA III SSD in the first bay with the OS and programs installed on it.

Hi, I am a prospective GT60 w/ 680M owner, I'm just worried about cooling issues. I'm wondering if the cooling system is on-par with something out of the NP9150, and if it's worth it to go with the MSI even if I can go Sager/Clevo and get the same computer with an i7 3720qm in the computer instead of an 3610qm in the GT60. I like the looks of the GT60, but I'm also worried about hearing about a lackluster build quality compared to the Sager, and problems with the MSI steel series keyboard? Can anyone fill me in on this? Thank you very much.

It's always tempting to get the newest but there's noting wrong with the GT780DX presently.

Every other generation is a good way to stay ahead and not break the bank for most.

I have the GT780DX that's serving me well now.

The GT70 with Super Raid(2 x Crucial M4),GTX680M and 16~32 GB of DDR3-1600 is something to covet but so will a Haswell model next year;maybe even more so.

I want this laptop badly. I'm from the Philippines and so far have saved up for this laptop. Problem is we don't have it here yet. Even the MSI GT70 with 670M has low to no stock here. I'm thinking of letting my cousin from Abu dhabi or my cousin from USA to buy for me. Which do you think should I do? Wait for it to come here in the Phil which is near to impossible. or let my cousin buy from reseller at Abudhabi. or let my cousin from USA buy from XOTICPC. thank you very much. Im planning to buy the MSI GT60 with 680M. really an adorable laptop. My concerns are warranty and repair issues. If it is defective etc.

So now the real question is, buy the early version without the SuperRaid or wait?! Gah! :|

Just received an email from GenTechPC that my custom configured GT60 has shipped. I was anticipating another 5-10 day wait since I had to get some upgrades added to the stock configuration.

I purchased the standard configuration, but changed the ram to 16GB, changed the wireless card to the BigFoot Killer 1202 with bluetooth, and added a blu-ray player. Can't wait to get it. The only other thing that I plan on doing is getting a 512 GB SSD for it when I can find one at a decent price.

Just ordered this bad boy! Can't wait to get it! It's a weird concept thinking that this laptop will blow my dell XPS desktop out of the water haha

    Congratulations you two :D
Let us know how your systems perform when you get them.

    Thanks for the heads up!

The main point that caught my eye during the video was that the GPU got up to 84c during the 3DMark 11 run. I think that was without the turbo fan on? It makes me wonder how far the GPU can be pushed above stock clocks with regards to temps in this machine.

Thanks to excelent service I have received my GT 60 with 680m early this morning from Gentech PC. I must congratulate Ken on his excellent assistance. I am still currently on holiday in US, but I will elaborate on this entire story when I get back home :) In short Gentech PC provided me with beyond excellent service :) They only received the laptop on Friday morning early, and they ensured that it is shipped to my hotel on Saturday morning. I am leaving the USA on Monday (so any other shipping method would have been too late). I was kept informed of the progress on my shipment every step of the way. +1 to Gentech for excellent service and + 10 to ken for above excellent customer support.

To any owners of this laptop, are there any problems with the keyboard not being responsive (specifically the spacebar)?

I also have the same questions, more so interested in cooling though. Does anyone have any hands on experience with both of these systems testing temps in the same environment?

    @stevenbrzt

The keyboard issues and the space bar which everyone is ranting about : I have the laptop and yes if you press the space bar on the total sides it does not register. However, it is not really an issue as it is on the total sides and no one really types like that. I typed this message with the GT60 and not a single space was missed :) So ye the problem has been blown out of proportion, it is not really an issue.

In terms of cooling, I will only be able to comment in three or four days when I really stress test this laptop. I am still on holiday and do not really have anything with me to test it.

    Yeah you're right WhatsThePoint
Thanks. I was spoiled by the GT60 but now that I think about it: it isn't worth it :)
I've even overclocked my GTX570m to 700/1400/1700 just to make it last :p
I'll keep it for another 2-3 years
Maybe a 7970m, who knows what the future might bring :D
