Sup bros and hoes, ok so mainly hoes but thats irrelevant...

Some may remember me I frequented this forum some time ago, as a proud owner of a GT725.

For some unkown reason yesterday I went on MSIs website in search of their latest and greatest G series = big mistake because now I want one.

Do youz reckon its worth the upgrade from the GT725? From a couple of reviews I've read I've heard the screen hasn't been upgraded yet :(, unless I'm mistaken?

Other than that I think the i7 and 5870 would come as a welcome performance boost. Are there any other significant changes that would sway my decision more?

    GT725-074US. Ghetto spec, 320 7200rpm hdd, P8600 @ 2.4, HD4850, 4GB DDR2 @ 667.

    Nothing too fancy.

Processor won't make much of a difference.
Screen on my E7405 is below average, people with the GX740 have also said it's below average.

5870 is a beast, but it will not blow you away if you are switching from a 4850.

GX740 will be about 50% faster than Your GT725, even more if You will overclock the 5870. This card is very prone to OC, with some modding of the cooling system You can easily OC from 700MHz to 850MHz.

Yeah the screen on the 725 is pretty rubbish, not much brightness and not much in the way of colour, I was really hoping this was something they addressed with their new models...

Mmmm one thing I love about the 4850 in the 725 is the ability to so easily change the clocks in CCC, I'm assuming this has been retained?

EDIT: Just realized you're an Auzzie dude! Based in Sydney? I'm in Newcastle haha, great spot :D!

Ah cool, I won't hold that against ya haha :p!!!

I think I might upgrade anyway, I can probably sell this laptop to some n00b who doesn't know what its worth and make a profit anyway...
