Hey guys, XoticPC sent me an email with a UPS tracking that confirms ill get the laptop tomorow or the day after at most.

I want to write a review on temps / benchmarks / in game tests / etc

Im a complete N00b on this so im woundering if there are any special (or preffered) apps to be downloaded off the web to get these recordings ... exept for the 10.4 catalyst drivers and the 16x bug fix by disabling powerplay.

I will be installing games like the Starcraft 2 Beta, Fallout 3, Sims 3 (more to come)

also they stated that the package weighs 6 pounds but includes a 9 Cell battery... maybe its some of the components inside that I changed that affected the weight?

    give me your thoughts

Since you are getting it with an aftermarket paste applied, I personally would like a temperature reading from you because I am debating whether I should upgrade the paste on mine. You can use a program like Prime95 ( GIMPS Home) which puts extreme load on your cpu and then hwmonitor from cpuid.com to monitor your cpu temps. For gpu temps you can run hwmonitor and then run 3DMark06 or 3DMark Vantage (futuremark.com) to put stress on the gpu. Hwmonitor has a max temperature reading in it so it will display the highest temperature the gpu reached while the benchmark was running. Good luck with the machine. Yours should be a beast given the specs. Anyway, can't wait for your review.

If you get RealTemp, GPU-Z and FRAPS, and use them to do data logging, my Python script can make nice graphs out of the data.

The functionality you need is all free. Some of them have pay versions with extra features, though.
