Is this a good idea or should I just get super glue?

I have been disappointed with super glue for anything other than hard nonporous
stuff like china. If you have liquid nail or caulking would be the best.
If color is an issue, you can get colored caulk.
I used brown colored caulk on some exterior siding and was very impressed.

    Liquid nail should be fine.
I would do one foot and see if you like it first.

no dont use that stuff... it will make a mess and most likely not stick well to rubber. go to a hobby shop and get ca glue activator and use with the crazy glue or get ca glue. use a tiny dab and spray the activator on it. ive done this many times and works perfectly

they are both the same thing both are cyanoacrylate glues. all the same stuff. imo a gel will be better for what you want though than a liquid type because it will not ooze out and run when you push the rubber piece back in

with the gell you need a TINY drop. in the center. just dont overdo it with either gel or liquid i can say the gel IS stronger long term...i work with high grade ca glue all the time. i used to own a car audio shop and i still do a lot of side work in making custom dashboards and fiberglass structures for trunks and door panels etc... the gel or "thick viscosity" is the best followed by the medium viscosity. i dont use hardly any of the thin or liquid stuff.. it just runs everywhere
