I can't for the life of me find any retailers who sell the 4K 7th gen CPU versions of either the GS63VR or the GS73VR. Can anyone point me in the right direction, because all I've found so far are 3rd party sellers on Amazon? I'd actually be OK with the 6th gen i7, but I need the 4K display. Also, does anyone know if either of them have true 4K displays, or are they pentile? Thanks!
P.S. My main uses will be Lightroom and Premiere Pro

In less than one minute I found the 4K version of GS63 and GS73 with 7th gen CPU on both GentechPC. I am sure it is also published by most other resellers, I also found it on Xotic's website, easily.

As for the specs of the screen, maybe someone can help. I believe most are pentile but there should be non pentile displays available now.

For GS63VR, look on Google for GS63VR Stealth Pro 4K-228
For GS73VR, look on Google for GS73VR Stealth Pro 4K-223

Edit: Ryzeki beat me to it. :D

Looks like they're available on Amazon too!

However, if you're interested in the GS63VR 4K, I think it's important to be aware that MSI has a history of using RG/BW Pentile displays in this model in order to claim the 4K UHD 3840x2160 resolution spec. RG/BW Pentile replaces the RGB in each pixel with either only RG or only BW. All the hardware and software is still preparing a full RGB 3840x2160 picture, but the display isn't capable of showing you all that detail. The display actually has fewer RGBs than the old 3K 2880x1620 display. These displays give you all the downsides to 4K (potential scaling issues, worse native-res game performance) without all the benefits (picture less sharp, diagonal lattice pattern can be visible). This is commonly regarded to be a deceptive marketing practice, and to mean the displays are not a true 3840x2160.

It is possible that MSI has switched to true 4K dipslays, but I don't think that's likely, since the representatives posted any replies in this thread about the issue. If you are interested in 4K, personally I would recommend to skip the GS63VR, and instead either consider the GS73VR (which does use true 4K), or find a completely different 15.6" laptop that is confirmed to use a 100% honest true 4K display.

This Gigabyte model is one of such laptops ( source, v5 model and the v6 display shouldn't be any different). I think you will notice the difference between a true 4K display, and a not-true 4K display, before the difference between the 6th and 7th gen i7 quads.

    The difference:

I suppose older stock used older panel while the newer stock/products use newer/better panel.
Remember the first 4K used on GS60 was not so great (limitations) initially?

Yep! I think it's good that some of the newer panels don't seem to have the mustard-yellow color or 48Hz issue as the old ones.

But I think the GS63VR is still using Samsung and LG panels. Outside of a few isolated reports from non-USA countries (for identical model numbers to pentile panels), due to what I believe to be region-specific inconsistencies in LG's panel production, I haven't seen a true RGB 4K 15.6" from either panel manufacturer.

Do you have a confirmation of the type of subpixel matrix used in the new MSI GS63VR displays?

    Thanks!

It uses LG LP156UD1-SPB1, and here is the detailed spec.
