i have seen that article and i am thoroughly convinced that MSI has released a bios that is incompatible with windows 2000 either server or professional. i have used a brand new hard drive and i have even used a low level utility several times. i know my install media is good because i've used both disc's (prof and server) tons of times on serveral laptops and servers.

is there anybody running windows 2000 prof or server on the 1029 running bios 2.50? hopefully somebody can prove me wrong that the bios is incompatible.

this was my first msi product and i have to be honest right now with a few other issues with the 1029, i am certain it will be my last.

I, too, am having this problem. I think it's the fact that all the drivers for the motherboard are MS defaults, and so far the only drivers I've found are for xp.

I'm still looking, but it's been two days, albeit not totally dedicated. XP does NOT have this problem.

Win 2k will work if you download 2.6 BIOS version from http://www.service.targa.co.uk/. Download BIOS for Traveller 826/826T. These notebooks are just rebranded MS-1029 clones.
