The two that the MSI site mentions it uses are the Intel 5100 Mini and 5300 Hlaf Mini. I've been only able to find the 5300 Mini and can not find that 5300 Half Mini. Will the 5300 Mini work or is there a space issue? Are there other kinds of wireless cards I could buy instead of those two Intel cards?

Yes it will, these are only two "officially" supported cards.

Ah cool, 5300 Mini it is. I wonder where one could find those Half Minis anyway.

Noclue4uhere thanks for all the input in the forum.

On your site you have 3 wireless cards, which works for the 1722??

You can also search for 533ANMMWW which is the part number for the 5300 mini cards.

Any should work. I have tried a 4965AGN and a Ralink 2860. The Ralink gives nearly double the throughput.

Thanks zfactor. I didn't know that.

EDIT: The seller says this intel 5300 for $25 HERE is the production model (costs $0.50 more. lol).

still be careful ive bought from 4 or 5 ebay seller that did not specify in the auction and when i get them they are not production models one even said the same to me that theirs was a production model and it said engineering on it when i got it. a freind got one that didnt even have the white intel sticker on it at all. some say engineering sample on them and some dont. i called intel to inquire about some and they told me the card i gave them the info off of was not even in their system at all. i deal with one china seller and i know they are legit but they take forever for shipping i get the cards in like 2-3 weeks.

My $25 "Hong Kong special" arrived a couple of minutes ago. Appears to be the same card as Uber refers to above, different seller. No indication its an engineering sample. Engineering sample cpu should arrive within 48 hrs to finish the build, should have some feedback then.

as long as it works then dont worry about it. but intel themselves told me a lot of these sellers are selling b-stock or es sample cards. i have bought a ton of them from china trust me i buy them myself but just be warned ahead of time. id say out of 24 i have had 3-4 not work right. intel knows about these sellers and the guy i deal with at intel told me a lot of these are refurb's or b grades. but most of the ones i have got work fine so i dont care much just make sure to check the cards ASAP in case there is a issue though prob not worth shipping back to china for 24$ imo

Received my Intell 5300 from Amazon. Had to moved the wires around a bit to fit but it works nonetheless. All that's left is the ODD and then I'll be set for a while
