I recently purchases an MSI GS60 6QD and I like the specs and performance very much, but it doesn't have a lot of battery life. I got about 2.5 to 3 hours when I dimmed the display, put it on power saver, and did only word processing.

I have a nice external batter that can be used for 16V or 19V laptops, but the problem is that to be safe in using it, you need to remove the laptop's battery (that's so you won't be charging the laptop's battery and creating extra current draw). But the battery in the MSI cannot be removed, at least that I can see.

So what's the best solution for increasing life? Is there a larger internal battery available? Or a kind of external battery that will work without removing the internal battery?

@ratsrcute - You can remove the battery, but you have to get into the machine to do so. I can't think of any external alternatives other than power banks.

Are we going to see support for using external battery packs over the USB-C/Thunderbolt port? I bought an HTC 10 recently and it has an option to be used as a power pack to charge another device over its USB-C port.

Not that I would use it for such, but I found it quite interesting that it has the capability to charge another device. It would be great if it were possible to use an external battery pack to either provide additional power for longer battery sessions or at least recharge the battery.
