Here is a test I made that can help others with their tweaking:

    CPU
    0% fan speed

    GPU - 570M
    35% => 36-38 Celsius => Too loud (35% is the default)
    00% => 65-67 Celsius => Too hot
31% => 39-40 Celsius => Too loud (31% is the minimum you can set on an unmodified 570M)
21% => 42-43 Celsius => Almost as "loud as silent" + Acceptable temperature

In order to set 21% you must use Svet's tool (or any other tool capable of doing it) and modify the bios of the 570M to 20% fan speed minimum.

Thanks for your Profile, Smitty. Though I prefer a constant wpeed as long as possible, the RwExit is a really good addition.

Do you know how to make a .bat-file auto-run when the OS boots?

yes, create the shortcut in this folder:

    C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

this will start the batch file for all users, at boot up the cmd window will flash on screen for half a second and launch the program with your RW settings.

you could just use the line in the batch file also to create a shortcut there directly without opening a dos window. but i guess i'm just lazy. it works fine with the batch.

hello and thanks for the solution. I discover a new quiet environnement when I work on the notebook now.

I use the Smitty123 values ( and batch launching with windows too), but I just want to be sure :

    - If I watch HS movies or play games, will the fan speed up alone ? (not sure if I can say that in english :) ) I've played just 2-3 minutes but nothing happened, so I stop it to be sure :D

    thanks.

hi lokham, yes the fan will speed up by itself when needed.

All those 0x lines you see in the rw file is to tell the fan controler the fanspeeds and temperature thresholds that the cpu temperatures are expected to reach and the fans will speed up to meet the demand. All very safe i assure you.

My cpu temps stay nice and low at 50-51c every day for all cores when doing normal things like surfing, chatting, youtube etc. The fan is quiet during those times, never going above 55c but if it goes up then i hear the fan slowly go faster but still barely noticeable and it is a much nicer softer rise in speed than the woosh you heard before, its barely noticeable.

i tested these values in various ways:

Games: transformers WFC, left 4 dead, serious sam1,2,3, etc

and i do daily video editing which means, compression and conversions.

i keep an eye on the temps everyday with a program called Coretemp. i have it display the results in a Windows gadget called All Cpu Meter from http://addgadget.com/all_cpu_meter/

When i do gaming, i keep an eye on the temps and they go in the high 60s mid 70s celsius which is normal and the fan speeds faster and is noticeable which is needed to keep the cpu/gpu cool.

thanks for the kind words, and please try it, and let us know how it works for you.

thank you for your answer. I've try it in a game and yes, it works, the fan go louder and faster with the temperature (never upo more than 66 °C).

Now My notebook is not noisy anymore , thanks. I've a probleme of vibration ( the touchpad) but I'll try to fix it by myself,( with my extra Macgyver style), I don't want to send the notebook to MSI again ( bought it 5 month ago, gone to MSI for 2 month, 2 times).

good to hear it works for you too lokham,

but RMA twice already to msi ? and it took 2 months total, wow , thats horrible!

a big company like msi, 1st they should get better quality assurance team, 2nd they should overnight the delivery. i just hope it was worth it.

What's the vibration thing you mean with the mouse pad? the mouse pointer shakes around the screen or is it some kind of physical vibrations ?

Yunno it could just be the hard drives, you like a macgyver solution? He likes rubber bands, so use a couple around the drive(s) across the drive on the short side, that should absorb some of the vibrations coming from it and fill in the spacing between the hdd and the casing. i believe it can handle a 12.5mm drive but they use 9.5mm

i was actually looking on ebay for a rubber caddy / sleeve like this, it should provide with adequate antivibration:

or what else could it be, the bass speaker under the laptop? should check the THX icon to config that to your liking.

Yes it is physical vibrations. not always but randomly a "bzzzzzzz" provide from the touchpad. When I just put my hand on the left of the notebook, or on the touchpad, it stops. I think I will try to fix it with a little rubber band why not, and I will have a look à the hard drive like you said, it could be it.

    thanks !

Hope it works ! but i think it might be a screw need tightening, if you're comfortable with tools, check the 1st post of this thread for disassembly instructions and videos to check for that. you may only need to remove the wrist rest or top of the laptop to check.

I'm using the Fan Controller with RW-everything like shown. It worked like a charm previously but now on W7 x64 it seems to forget the settings after watching a movie or playing a game. It does lower revs after cooling down, but locks on around medium/low revs instead of going dead slow like before. I have to run the quiet.bat file again to stop the throtling sound again. Anyone has same problem?

    i haven't had that problem.

could be your laptop is just a bit hot because of doing those activities.

Like I said it cools down and doesn't go to dead-silent mode anymore. When I activate quiet.bat again it does go silent, so the temperature is not the issue. By some reason it ''forgets'' the quiet fan settings and goes back to default.
