Sounds good. I have a T9600 coming in for the one I have on order with OC. Should be interesting to see what it can do... BTW, thanks for the Turbo information posting. Should be handy information.

    the t9400 does almost 2.9 when 15% oc'ed.

testing a t9800 today as well as a t7500, and im gonna play with the q series even though everyone said they dont work. im gonna have a look in the bios to see if there is anything that can be changed.

make sure to set the ram to auto in the bios. set at 800 even the t9400 and t9600 both locked up a few times. im going to try different ram later today (using crucial micron d9nhl chips now going to go the elpida ocz based and powerchips kingston based also) to see if the ram holds back the overclock

why on earth is the default bios set up for a internal gpu? if you go to advanced chipset settings they have it set for a internal gpu using 32mb of ram. also check your gpu boot order i found with that set wrong it would crash on me almost as soon as it hit windows.

the screen is great in these (glossy version) its a chi mei panel same model used in the compal fl92 barebones for those that know what they look like. nice and bright, whites are great though a slight touch on the blue side but still very nice overall. almost no light bleeding and no spotting anywhere etc. overall great

Beyond the MSI barebone from OC; this one is getting the T9600, (2) OCZ PC2 6400 -> 2gb/stick, an Hitachi 7200 rpm 320gb HD and an Intel 5300 mini. I hope it works out alright.

Thanks again for pointing the way to the rocks across the pond.....

imo you should be fine just leave the ram set to auto (speed) in the bios. if i try to manually set it to the recc ram settings from ocz or crucial it will crash randomly when overclocked

How new is your barebones zfactor? Is it a refresh for the 627 or similar?
The threads from last sept(ish?) were pretty gloomy about the overall screen quality, so I'm wondering what's changed and when.

Also, I thought the ram speed was restricted to 667 through the board capabilities since forever anyway, maybe that's due to the instability.

this is the newest revision of the 1651 with the larger arrows. the screen is great on it, the old one was a matte screen and it was very dim and grainy from the ones i saw.

only thing i wish is these worked with the qx chips id keep the one i have here

    Hi zfactor,

Do you know what are the differences between
    1651-ID2 and 1651-ID3?

I noticed the ID2 has different looking touch controls and has the option of WSXGA screens, so which of the two (ID3, ID2) is better and which one did you buy?

    Thanks

imo the ID2 is better, better res and if you don't like the red trim that is in the ID3 go with the ID2, I bought the ID2 from OC and so did zfactor.

Is the WSXGA+ screen still matte (i.e. the ones OC is selling)? I really like the look and quality of that matte screen from feedback and reviews I have seen.

I'm considering selling my N80Vn because I want a higher res screen

the t9800 is killer in this thing hits almost 3.5 with a 15% oc and is smoking fast. love it. now to get a 4850 from somewhere lol... this thing will be awesome.

also the t7xxx chips seem to work fine but they report temps a bit higher for me than they should. i have a few chips that i know their normal temp range in the fl92 and they do seem s bit out of whack in this notebook.

also the t7xxx (i used a t7500 and t7700) both did not like the turbo function. both had random lock up's. never a bsod just a frozen screen and i had to turn the power off and restart manually to turn it back on. windows was just frozen.

so if you buy these for the t7 series and plan to oc this might be something to think about.

i ran this through prime, memtest etc it passed everything when oc'ed even 20% with the t9800 and t9400.

ill stick a quad in tomm just for the heck of it to see that is doesnt boot lol..

man this thing would just be wicked if there was a way to do the quad and 4850.

The ID2 and ID3 have the same touch control, the picture on the msi site is incorrect. The ID3 model in the USA is discontinued.

If the T9900 still comes out, could you get close to 3.75Ghz? That would be insane.

right on. Sorry to keep bothering you about the screen, but I'm really trying to get a feel for what it is like. How are the viewing angles?

yeah the t9900 would be right about 3.7 with the 15% oc. insane is right. t9800 imo in this notebook is killer though

viewing angles side to side are really pretty good vertically not great but plenty acceptable. the matte version i saw was way worse and was very dim compared to this.

I think I'm gonna grab one of these barebones laptops. I really can't deal with 1280x800 resolution...it just doesn't provide enough real estate. I usually have my laptop at my desk so moving from a 14" to a 15" should not be a big deal.

You know, MSI managed to fit an MXM-IV card in a MXM-III slot, as shown here (GT627 with the 9800M GS). That's pretty cool. Wonder if a GT or a GTX would manage, on top of a 15% CPU overclock.

Awsome, so does the ID1 have the touch panel too? I noticed on the ID3 it doesn't show that ugly hole in the picture on the back of the screen, does this mean the ID2 and ID1 don't have the hole?

    Thanks
