I am sorry if this has been posted before, but I could not find an answer to my question using the search.

Has anyone used a turion ml series cpu instead of a turion mt series cpu with the msi 1029. I am interested in the results. MSI does not officially support the use of the turion ml series, but I have seen a few resellers that offer the ml.

Any real world experience here would be helpfull.

I do think this has been answered by the experts here....
And the opinion/statement goes something like this....

"You might try a ML processor, but you souldnt expect the laptop to run very long." not a real quote of any one specificly. This sentiment was in reference to the 1029.

Acer is a major user of the ML series. I expect they are for sale for upgrade purposes.

If money is an issue look for a 25w Sempron. Though you will have to check AMD's site for the serial number codes for the correct ones and only purchase clearly labled product.

Thanks for the reply. Money isnt really the issue, I was just thinking about sqeezing out a little more raw power with a ml-42/44 instead of a mt-40.

Sempron is not an option for me, I want to do some heavy gaming with the machine.

I think that the CPU performance you might squeeze from a ML is going to get bottlenecked, for gaming, by the X700 on the 1029. Though I suppose we wont know for sure until the 1039 hits some enthusists hot little hands.
