maybe you should try installing the software of the webcam. It's called camera recorder and you can easily find it on msi their site.

maybe updating your bios and firmware. and what os version are you using? 32-bit or 64-bit?

On the cd in your box there is a utility on it called "simple camera"

Install that and then turn on the camera, should work fine.

SP1 installed and all windows updates? You installed the intel chipset driver?

If so not sure, never had any camera issues at all on any of these.

Try using the correct BIOS and EC firmware version.

    MSI GX720 MS-1722 ID2
    MSI BIOS: A1722IMS.10S
    MSI EC FIRMWARE: A1722EMS1.429

    BareBone MS-1722 ID1
    Generic: A1722IG6.10S
    Generic EC FIRMWARE: A1722EG61.429

Thx and it's correct, wrong firmware will cause the buttons to act incorrect.
It will also mess your BIOS settings and CPU/GPU support.

hmm..isn't that the p1-button? check if you have the correct BIOS installed. A1722IG6 V1.0S is the one you need.
And you do have system control manager installed right?

Then check the EC version not the BIOS version, read the complete story and you will find the answer for your issue.

don't think it's really necessary but i'm gonna say it anyway..
did you install the msi webcam program (CameraRecorder it's called)
if that doesn't help then i think there is something wrong internally in the laptop..

I have the same problem. I've got a GX720-1W1US and have upgrade the bios and firmware, the webcam don't work anymore.

    MSI GX720 MS-1722
    MSI BIOS: A1722IMS.10S
    MSI EC FIRMWARE: A1722EMS1.429

I think it's a firmware or bios bug.

The only thing I know is that it changed when I upgrade the keyboard firmware to A1722EMS1.429, so downgrade it.

    Hi,
Can someone help me with upgrade the BIOS and the firmware? The laptop that I have has an incorrect BIOS and firmware as mention above. I been trying all afternoon to upgrade to the correct BIOS and firmware without any success so far. I google for USB Bootable drive but still couldn't able to boot to DOS to install the correct BIOS and firmware. Is there any easier way that I can upgrade the BIOS. How do you guy upgrade the BIOS? Thanks for your help.

Thanks Kingtron for the quick reply. I was using the HP format tool to create an usb bootable disk but couldn't do it. I was using an 4GB Sandisk USB drive but I couldn't able to boot in DOS. After several trial, I couldn't do it so I was looking for other way but couldn't find it. I just decided to use a 1GB MicroSD memory stick that I have laying around and format it using HP format tool. Voila. I was able to boot in DOS. I wasted couple of hours because of the 4GB SD memory. Thank you for your help though.

Ah! I see, now I understand!
    I have a MS-1722 ID1

I upgrade the firmware to 4.29, and it works also perfectly.
Why don't have MSI a link for the ID1 on the site? weird..

    Firmware 4.29 for the MS-1722 ID1

Thanks RePaRaQu, it's all clear now! :D

No link is very simple because this is a barebone version for example notebook builders.
But for any other issue feel free to contact trough the forum or other.
