    hi guys

ive ben lookig around the net for the best bang for the buck laptop and ive come to the conclusion that its gotta be the g725
i am howver from the philippies and it is not available here. my mom will be taking a vacation in the states though and i plan to order it online so she could bring it home.
my question is how is the build quality of the notebook( not including the squisshy keyboard issue)? ive heard of some graphics issues/artifacts in the 725 lounge. is it prevalant?
what about dead pixels and dvd problems? anyone ever experience these?
im quite wary about purchasing since msi doesnt have a service center here in my country and it would be a gigantic hassle sending it back to the states.
i feel however it is definitely the best buy right now and weighing all pros and cons of this.
    hopw you guys can help...

    cheers

ps if i decide to buy what online retailers do you suggest (US shipping)

GT725 build qaulity great! less keyboard flex AFAICS than the GT627/GX620/MS-1651.

No dead pixels on my GT725-074US bought from newegg, and there were none on my old GX620/MS-1651 either, but it had a faulty keyboard/other components. No sign of those on my GT725 although it IS MUCh larger than I expected given official dimensions...

Downside? ATI GPU with incredibly limited official support given their recent dumping of support for GPUs over 2y old.... bad news, but a good advert for nVidia given that they support their GPUs almost back to their first ones...

You should look where i got my new one (RK Computers), they ship internationally too. You can also customize the notebook from them:

    http://www.rkcomputer.net/rkcnotebooks/index.php?l=product_detail&p=128

I customized mine to the specs in my signature.

yes i was considering xoticpc till i found out that dlvry price (us) and sales tax isnt part of the quoted price unlike amazon.
their customer service and customizability seem top notch though.
also their deliveries seem to take more time which i dont have

i also wanted to try newegg but they dnt accept inertnational credit cards
so i guess im stuck with amazon and bestbuy unless icn contact xoticpc and ask about my issues

On the phoronix forums an actual AMD employee has clarified the aritcle to mean that yes Windows driver support for old GPUs will continue, but at a "slower pace".

X.org will be left with only OSS driver support, which is what that guy actually works on.
