    need help on MSI A6200-021US ASAP

    hello fellow forum excuse my spelling, im planing on getting the MSI A6200-021US i5 , and i been doing some reaserch but i just hit a wall, i know it comes with 32bit os , can i upgrade it to 64bit and if i do would it be able to read the whole 8 gig of ram or would it still read only 4gig im just curious because i looked every where and didnt find any answer please shed some light thank you in advance :confused:

    you can install a 64 bit OS, but the max memory the system supports is 4GB. You couldn't find an answer and you looked everywhere? I found the answer in the first google result for that laptop.

    Welcome to NBR. You need 64bit to take full advantage of ram over 3gb.
    back to original question , yes you will be able to install a 64bit OS on it.

    oh thank you so its not the software i though if i installed 64bit it would automatically read 8 gig after installing 8 gig of ram

    The system BIOS limits the max supported RAM to 4GB, so anything more will be a waste regardless of OS.

    My max supported ram is 4gb .. But 8gb works fine , tested.
    Just an example ..

    Yep , 8gb works fine on my machine even though it's not "officially" supported. Why you wanna go 8 though ? 4 is more than enough for everyday task.

    and you have same model right MSI A6200-021US and its able to read all 8gig with 64 bit os right , well i work heavly with photoshop and alldata software, also i run vmware and i need the ram when i run 2008 rc2 server,and exchange server , virtually, and i edit movies once in a blue moon

    No i have a different MSI machine. Just buy the ram from a place that accepts return just in case. Your proc & chipset do support 8gb though.
