in short, as the title states, the mouse buttons and touchpad are entirely unresponsive. the mouse is stuck in the middle of the scren. they are not deactivated via the function key.
i have tried reinstalling the driver, rolling it back, system restore, and BIOS reset. it is not showing up in the device manager.

i did just have it fixed in the shop. the left click wasnt woring and it seemed like it was stuck. the main reason it was there was actually a dc ack replacement, with the mouse click as a side problem, so im not sure if he replaced or manually fixed it; my brot, her gave me this laptop, said he had barely used it but it had been more or les lying around a lot, and it did have mouse discrepencies from the get go--when i would unplug and move the laptop [usually just to go outside] without powering off/sleeping it would be frozen. usually switching users/putting it to sleep would fix the problem immediately

there have been two or three very random times in this week of complete unresponsiveness that it randomly started working entirely again after a restart (the laptop also randomly restarts, which will be my next problem to tackle--needless to say, having used this laptop for a collective couple months or so, i am not impressed)

my best guess is that it is physically disconnected, i jut really dont want to attempt taking it apart/bring it back to the repair place unless necessary. is there anything else i should/could try?

It sounds like either the cable is not properly seated, or the board underneath the pad itself is defective (and therefore would need replaced). You could open it up yourself to try reseating the cable, but whether it's that or the board, I recommend having it serviced. If you attempt to work with the cable yourself, make sure you're grounded!
