There seems to be a problem with my usb 3.0's. I noticed this a couple of months ago but I haven't been using those sockets since that then. It keeps on disconnecting my devices every couple of seconds. It's really annoying because it disrupts my file transfers and other stuff. What is wrong with this?

If you're running Windows 7, reload the USB 3.0 driver and see whether that helps or not.
Is this happening on USB 2.0 ports with the same devices as well? -
I had that issue with my Asus N550. I had to reinstall the drivers and reboot. I am running windows 8 so it uses the built in drivers for that, for win 7 you need to download the drivers.

This is a compatibility issue, try another brand/model of USB 3.0 enclosure to verify.
I've seen this happens more often with USB HDD but not USB flash drives. -
The problem is with the usb ports themselves. Im using win 8.1, it came with the laptop. How do I reinstall the usb drivers?
-
There isn't any drivers, they are in the OS.

They're native in Windows 8.1. It could be incompatibility as Kevin mentioned. You can try another cable and/or device to test for whether the fault is at the port or it's a compatibility problem between the device and the system. -
Faced the same issue with my GT780DXR and solved it.
My post in this link may help you.

What did you mean by "unstable"? -
Go to device manager, select the USB 3.0 driver under the Universal Serial Bus Controllers and it should be named something like USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller. I right clicked it, uninstalled it, and then rebooted my laptop. Upon rebooint it reinstalled. I had to reboot the laptop a couple of times though. After that, it worked well.

Sort of like power cut off every few seconds. It's like the USB port not sending enough power to operate the devices.

It's either compatibility, or insufficient power supplied to the USB device.
I have seen such symptom randomly with certain USB enclosures.
