I don't think i'll get the 1039.. need something a lil more portable (looking at the upcoming 1024).. but if I had to buy, it'd be either xmeld or rawpowerpc.. both have been so friendly..infact the way they talk is so similar I think they're really the same person :O if only i had money, I'd buy from the both of them :p

I was planning on buying it when it came out, but due to recent financial considerations, by the time I can buy it, there'll be something new out that is more suitable for me.

But we'll see what's up when that happens.

I know that United Micro has some really good deals on this notebook. Goto http://www.unitedmicro.com/cgi-bin/ntz.cgi?NT3MS1039S and you can select whatever you want to put into it. I also spoke to Chris in sales at 800-943-7255 x207 and he was more than helpfull and helping me with pricing. I know I'm going to buy from them, I suggest you do too.

The major difference is the ML processors operates at 35w

-and I thought the ML processors were incompatible to the MS-1039......CS unleaded? :D

The MT operates at 25w... so it will have longer battery life and I don’t think the performance really suffers much.

I would choose the MT processor over the ML

The ML will work in the 1039 (as it will in the 1029), but the MT is the recommended solution. With the heat history of the 1029, I wouldn't put the ML series in the 1039, nor will Xmeld offer it, at least not until the heat testing on the unit is done.

The ML has an extremely slight power advantage, but nothing you would notice without software measurement. Unless you're ekeing out that last 10 points on 3dMark, it's not worth it.

Not to mention, the price point on the ML44 is crazy, not worth the bump in performance. The MT-40 or even MT-37 is plenty of power.

hmmmm............lets add more heat for 200 more Mhz, yeah that makes sense to me. MT-40 for me. :D

I totally agree. I have to wonder why AMD (and most large manufacturers) focus on the ML over the MT line. If you want a little more speed, overclock your MT. From what I've read that will perform better than undervolting your ML. Just my $.02

As desperate as I was for a new laptop a week or two ago, I've decided to wait a bit more for the X2's. I just hope they don't have the same delays as the 1039 did. I am bummed to hear that X2's will be 35w TDP without a 25w option available until they go to 65nm next year. I'm also hoping MSI will come out with a 14.1" or 13.3" for the Turion X2, but that may be dreaming too much.

We got some new dells at work, so I can use that on the road for another month or so. I just can't load/play any games.

    I think you'll see an MSI 14" x2, but I wouldn't wait around for a 13" model.

I dont think MSI has ever made a 13" laptop, they are always 14" or 12.1" right?

I just bought one barebones from EWiz.com. $818 plus shipping, came out to $844 total. Seems like the cheapest so far.

I'm just going to throw in the MT-40, 60gb hd and 1gb RAM from my 1029.

i went with rawpowerpc.com based on the great reviews i've heard about them. around $1560 with the WXGA screen, MT40, 2gig ram, 80gig 7200rpm hdd, and wireless/bluetooth combo.

on the minus side, been waiting since last wed. and still only at the "order received" stage (1 out of 5) :(
