So my dorm has 5GHz band wifi. turns out my new laptop doesn't support 5GHz. It has a Intel wifi link 1000BGN. So is there any cheap USB adapter that I can get? Would it really improve the speed? I know its not good at the range and doesn't go through walls well, but my friend can get 31mps download in my room...so...ya thanks![]()

Why not get an Intel 6200 adapter specifically for your Lenovo from ebay?
Otherwise: Newegg.com - ASUS USB-N53 Black Diamond Dual Band (2.4GHz 300Mbps/5GHz 300Mbps) Wireless-N USB Adapter, Graphical Easy Interface, Live Signal Monitor. -
How much is the adapter? Are you sure it fits my laptop?...thats what worry about me. I have a T420s. So how much is it?

You will have to find one that the T420 accepts which makes things harder (stupid whitelist in the bios), but an Intel 6200 is usually in the 20$ range.
If you can't fine one, you can use a 6300: http://www.ebay.com/itm/IBM-Thinkpa...US_Internal_Network_Cards&hash=item3cbdcd358f. With two antennas it will act just like a 6200.
