" PLEASE" forgive me if this is an over-beaten topic, but....
I'm suddenly getting an ASUS ACPI Driver missing error on my notebook.
And nothings working. Cannot connect online and everything's going in
s u p e r slow motion.
help?
Thanks tons!
Zarkonn
P.S. There's a program trying to install it'self called 'Internet Security 2010' And it WILL NOT GO AWAY!

Could you please provide what the model of your notebook is?
This way we can find the Driver you need and you can install it.
About "Internet Security 2010"... does this happen to be Norton Internet Security? Or no? -
The Internet Security is NOT a Norton product. I don't think Norton would produce such a intrusive piece of software!!! It won't stop popping up every 5 seconds trying to get me to purchase it! I think it hoodwinked my daughter into installing it as a " free trial" ver. Baa!
As for the model, other than an 'Eee' on top, and the fact that it's just a few months old, how can I find which model it is? (Sry...it's my daughters)
Thank you so much for ANY help on this!!

There should be a sticker on the bottom of the laptop with model details on it.
Uninstall this not-Norton thing as it may be your problem- a bogus antivirus that in fact is a virus-trojan

You can find the ACPI drivers at http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us
As mentioned above, sort of, Antivirus XP, 2007, 2008, 2009, Internet Security 2010 = infamous badware. It's a pain to remove but not impossible. They want you to PAY for it to stop blowing up your computer. Just do a search for the removal instructions -- DO NOT pay for a tool to remove it.
When I was doing on-site calls for small biz this was one of the most common things I'd spend my day on.
Luckily I don't do that work anymore... a thankless job IMHO. It just comes back the next day when they browse the same seedy site on IE. -
Thanks... it says EeePC 1000HE.
