I can detect 57 wireless routers from my computer, so I think it might be causing interference and slowing things down for my wireless network. Is there any way I can test the network to see how much throughput it has independent of the internet? Thanks.

You can connect one computer via Ethernet cable to the router, share a folder on the computer in question and use another computer connected via Wi-Fi to download a file (preferably a big one- an ISO image or similar).
With so many networks there's not other way than to buy a 5GHz band capable router- that's unless you don't need LAN throughput and your connection isn't limited by wireless throughput. -
What downloads said, wait until a good chunk of the file has been transfered and you should have a good indication of the transfer speed. I did the math just to check, but the estimate from windows is usually very close to average speed if you use a stopwatch to check.
And now, here's what a wireless to wired transfer looks like with a high end router if you are the only one on 5GHz. Note that sometimes i peak at ~17.5MB/s, but very rarely.
16MB/s is already insanely high (129mbps) and is something you can achieve only with good routers. This was done with a Linksys E3000 for the record.Attached Files:

Download Fing by Overlook it may help you with some diagnostic and throughput settings.
Any way to test wireless network speed?
