I just recieved my E1505 about a week ago and everything was working well until I tried to setup my wireless connection.
The wireless router my ISP set me came with this 3 easy step setup disk.
I set up my wire connection to my desktop fairly easy, but when I tried to set up my wireless connection, I ran into a brick wall.
The istructions were as follows:
-eject disk form desktop and insert into next computer you wish to have connect to the internet
-follow the three easy steps
-connect to the internet.
Well, I followed the steps, but nothing happened.
I still end up with the page cannot be diisplayed message when I click on IE or FireFox. ( even though my wireless card indidcates an excellentstrength connection to the router.
If anyone has encountered a similar problem, I would greatly appreciate it if you would share your knowledge in solving this problem.

is your computer getting a signal from the router???

Is BellSouth PPOE? Do you have the right username/password...did you put a WEP or WPA encryption on it? If so, did you type all of that in correctly when you connected?
-
Yes to WEP encryption, and Yes, I typed it all correctly.
Still have not found solution.

wireless has to do with the router and not the ISP. If you have wired internet then you will get wireless depending on whether you setup the wifi correctly.
-
bingo.
if you can jack in with an ethernet cable and connect, then it's not an ISP issue.
HOWEVER, it may be a MAC address cloning issue which is sortof ISP related.
have you tried it with a cable straight into the router yet?
EDIT: also, you dont need to use any install software from your ISP. that actually may be the problem since you already ran it on your desktop.
in fact, you don't ever need to run that stuff.
try uninstalling and see what happens -
I have setup a number of wireless accounts before and they all worked fine. This one seems to be special.
keep the suggestions coming

well make sure that SSID broadcast is enabled, dhcp is enabled, and some sort of encryption too. Make sure that all things(wired and wifi) are on the same subnet and ip address scheme. If all you have is one peice of hardware then you should be fine for subneting. If that is all setup then your set. To tap into the router all depends on brand. Linksys are 192.168.1.1(type this in the address bar of an internet explorer while wired to the router) with pass admin and no username. Thats there default config.

Bellouth is indeed PPPoE. If I'm correct you have a netopia wireless modem/router configuration.
I also believe that you need to log onto the modem/router and enter your user name/password information.
Hope this helps. -
still in need of assistance

I have a westell modem and a linksys router. I also have bellsouth. To get this to work, you have to tell your modem that you want bridged ethernet mode instead of PPPoE. Type in launchmodem in your addressbar. Then, go to expert setup mode. Then, (I'm don't quite remember what it looks like here, but I'll try to tell you where to click) find the section where PPPoE is selected in the dropdown menu. Change that to Bridged Ethernet and put a check next to Turbo TCP Enable.
Next, hook up your router and go to PPPoE on the linksys setup page. Enter your bellsouth email address ([email protected]) and your password, save settings, and everything should be fine. -
im assuming you have a modem and a router as two seperate entities.
with BellSouth you have to have a bridged connection. While you have the wired router set you have to go to 192.168.0.254 i believe and change some settings under there under advanced and connection. THen you gotta hook up the wireless router.
Not 100% on what you do exactly since I'm away from it, but do give BellSouth a call and they should help you even if it takes like 2 hours (once I got it done in 5 minutes) -
I have a multi-function router.
that means that my modem and my router are not two seperate devices, they are one device.
It is capable of both wireless and wired internet, with both activeat the same time.
I hope this helps since I have yet come up with a solution of my own.
thanks in advance for any help given

Also, last time I tried to get wireless internet with BellSouth, it took 6 and 4 hours over a two day span of talking with a foreign backgrounded service representative. I had a westel modem and a brand new linksys router that I was trying to set up as my wireless system. I ended up returning the linksys router after they sent me this new modem/router.

Anyone ever had a wireless problem with an ISP called BellSouth?
