Some people said that WIFI LAN 802.11 a/b/g with Atheros chipset
has better performance compared with the Intel ones.
Any detail explanation on this ?

From my experience of both of these, there isn't really any difference in performance, it really depends on how good the wireless access point is set up and what nearby interferences there are. One report I have read stated that the Atheros 802.11a/b/g chipset had trouble when there was overlappting networks in the area (eg
ne network on channel 1 another on channel 2). I am currently using the Atheros AR5008X wireless card and have had no problems with any of the networks I have connected to.

Atheros is only better at 802.11n. Also just with some routers. It is dependant on what chipset the router has. In 802.11g it really doesnt matter. What counts though, is having a good antenna.

The Atheros cards I installed in my Dell and IBM laptops are definitely more dependable than the Intel cards that came in them from the manufacturers.

go w/ atheros
more dependable
more compatible w/linksys, d-link, etc, N routers w/ atheros chipsets.....better speed and distance.....
Atheros or Intel chipset ?
