Im trying to set up a router here in the office but I'm having all kinds of problems. I keep setting up the router and everything works great at first, then it will just stop working completely. There are 2 wired computers going into the router and also my laptop (wireless, obviously). I run the setup "wizard" and everything works just like it should, then no more than an hour later none of the computers will connect to the internet anymore. I've been through this about 4 times now. Any idea what the issue is? I really need to use my laptop in the office. Its a Belkin wireless G router if it matters. TIA guys.

Ditch the Belkin, they make the worst routers out there IMO.

well i personally liked my belkin pre n i had but lately its been acting funny.. noe it conked on me agian so i ripped it out & gona replace with somethign more powerful than the 2 i been tinkering with.
I havve heard they do suck though, mine was working fine this morning & this afternoon i get back & no wireless internet part only. everythign else on the network was fine but I had no internet at all. pluggged the other router in & worked fine but my wireless still sucks. the other one is a linksys. -
I have an older Belkin wirelss G MIMO router that goes silent about once every month or so (it's left on 24/7 otherwise). I don't know (yet) if that applies to wired connections as well, but it certainly shuts the wireless connections out. The simplest solution I've found is to simply unplug the thing for ten seconds (count 1-1,000, 2-1,000 ...) and then plug it back in.
That being said, I don't know why it happens, or why powering it down fixes the problem, I just know that to date it seems to work.
The other problem I have with the Belkin is that, at least for my old a/b protocol vaio, if there's even moderate traffic around from other routers (I live in a big apt bldg), it has a tendency to drop big downloads (it does not do this for my wife's notebook, which has b/g protocol - thank the lord
- I'd really be SOL if my wife's notebook kept getting drop-kicked off the network).
Of course your problem is much bigger since it's freaking out once an hour or so. From what I've heard, Belkin routers are not worth the hassle and frustration of trying to correct them, so I would concur with the other poster who suggested that you just replace it. That's what I'll be doing when I upgrade the vaio to a new notebook, at which point I may just keep the Belkin around as a secondary access point for the vaio. -
I will second (or third) the statement that Belkin is incapable of making good networking equipment. I've purchased nothing but duds from them, and have no plans to buy another Belkin networking device...ever.

The dropping of the connections is an ADDED Feature that comes with ALL Belkin Products. So if you want to stay connected you will need to ditch the Belkin.

Out of all of the routers I've tried, Belkin and Linksys included, I've been most impressed with the new TrendNet line. I have the TrendNet TEW-633GR, I I couldn't be happier with the quality, configuration setup, and reliability of the unit and connections.

u want to expand a bit more as how it stopped working?
. "no connection to the internet" - error messages the same on the pcs and the laptop?
. were the comps able to see each other?
. what value did u get back when issuing ipconfig command on all comps?
cheers ...
Belkin router problems. Only works for about an hour..
