At 39min 50 seconds a discussion starts about how GPS is a standard feature in notebooks since 2005. I have two questions that remain unanswered after extensive Google-ing:
1. Is this even true? (Guessing from a lack of relavent results would point to no, sadly...)
2. Are there known hacks to access the module and the data it is gathering so that I don't have to buy (and consequently carry around and power with my battery) an external GPS unit and thus be enabled to use a map program?
Thank you for your help.![]()
NOTE: I am sorry if this is not the correct place or if this topic has already been acknowledged, I did not find it or the relevant area.

Selected manufacturers have an option of including GPS in a laptop. It doesnt come on all laptops.
Trust me im smarter than proffesor Epps -
I'm sure you are. It seemed too good to be true but wanted to know just in case before I spent the money.
...and if I could start on a project... (getting Windows to recognize a hidden device)

Check out the Panasonic section. We built some custom GPS boards in ours.

No GPS in mine, Compal.

Well, that in itself is a very fruitful line of enquiry - sometimes it's near impossible to get Windows to even recognize unhidden devices, like the system it's on.
