I just recieved a cyberpower 9520 laptop....i pulled it out of the box and tried to connect to the internet. It can't find my router i have set up. First it says that i need to turn on the wireless capability, which i have done, because i read up on that as well and its just an easy button and the light comes on, so thats done, but it doesnt say it is....idk if that is the real problem but my router works bc im on this desktop wirelessly, and the router is wired into another desktop i have..thanks

Does your router broadcast the SSID? Do you have WPA/WPA2 wireless security enabled? Have you configured your laptop wireless connection correctly? What operating system is on the laptop? What router do you have?
-
^^^^^^.. and
did you enter the router password -
idk what SSID is..i dont think i have security enabled, although idk what that is either...im pretty sure its configured correctly, i did it the only way ik how....it is ultimate 64......the router is a US Robitics broadcasts in g i believe.
-
router doesnt have a password
-
is ur router acting as dhcp or u have to manually assign ips....??
and SSID (service set identifier) is broadcasting of name....
if its vista uncheck ipv6....that shud help as well
and also go through the router settings.... -
where is the ipv6(i hate vista) and i dont manually assign ips, i believe it is SSID
-
well ive got it so it recognizes the network...but now it wont connect to the network
-
Do you get connection when you wire the laptop to the router?
-

does it have the correct IP address assigned....and check the starting and ending IP addresses in the router settings....!! -
Good, now w/o disconnecting, go into the device manager and check for the network adpaters, what do you see?
-
i unchecked it an still wont connect, and doesnt give a reason in the diagnosis
-
i see: the bluetooth, intel wireless wifi link 4965AGN, and realtek RT 8168/8111 Family PCI-E ethernet NIC(NDIS6.0)

In the driver tab, what driver version do you have? My version is 11.5.1.15, date: 3/13/2008. If is an older driver select update driver. -
i enabled it and the driver is 11.1.1.11 and it says its up to date when i tried to update...how else should i update if not with this software
