I would prefer N, since it is one of the components that can not be fixed with something as simple as an external hard drive, headphones, or buying another stick of ram. The problem is that I am not too familiar with wireless cards, here are my choices:
IntelĀ® PRO/Wireless 3945 802.11a/g Wi-Fi Internal Card [subtract $10]
Dell Wireless 1490 802.11a/g Wi-Fi Internal Card [subtract $39]
Intel 4965AGN Wireless-N Internal-card [add $10]
Dell Wireless 1505 Wireless-N Internal-card [Included in Price]
Up to 5x the speed and 2x the range of existing 802.11g networks
Dell Wireless 1395 802.11g Wi-Fi Internal Card [subtract $49]
I WILL use it for college. I would prefer the speed and the distance, that's why I want N.

get the 4965 that card rocks. i own the 3945 as well and the 4965 blows it away all the way around, imo the dell cards (most of them) suck
-
lol I don't found my 4965 any special?
-
lol compared to the 1300 series dell... those suck imo... i have 3 compal laptops here right now. one has the 3945, one has the 4965, and the other an atheros card in it. the 4965 has 5 bars coverage through the whole house, the 3945 has 3 bars at the far end, the atheros just drops connections here and there but works well when it does.
the 3945 has 2 antenna connection, the 4965 has three i always use the 4965's now in everything i build unless they supply their own as they did with the atheros. seriously the standard dell cards are fine for general use but they are the same broadcom ones as the compaq's and others use and they are far from the performance of the 4965 -
I don't know who makes DELL cards, but they certainly don't compare with Intel cards. I would go with 4965AGN because is a more recent product and for only another $10, just skip McDonald twice and is paid.

Is there a question here??
