Can anyone help me with the traffic control for D-link 825, my house mate always using the Internet and watch movie, I can connect to the Internet but I can't even read my mail now days, I'm the one who own the router/pays the bill.
My house mate using LAN computer which connected with router directly , due to cabling problem , I only able to use wireless. Is there any way for me to set my Internet for 50% speed & 50% speed for my house mate?
Please advise. Thank you.

Assuming you're using D-Link DIR-825 B1 (and possibly B2) you could flash it with Gargoyle firmware which would give you a screen like the one attached.
You could set his computer to get always the same IP and then set a limit for this IP.
While you can't limit his throughput you can set a quota that when reached will trigger bandwidth throttling to a per-determined upload and download speed.
So you can set his quota to 1MB (I'm not sure if 0MB would work) and after that he's limited to whatever you want him to be. -

Thanks for your help , May I have the direct download link for Gargoyle firmware , I'm not sure which is best to use.
PS : I'm using mobile online...can't even visit nbr forum..my house mate is too ridiculous... -
You should start with this version.
Chances are that it may refuse to load directly from an update page in which case you initiate a recovery procedure to force it.
Gargoyle Defaults- after the flash will be:
Router IP Address: 192.168.1.1
User: root
Password: password
Remember to flash via Ethernet cable.
BTW- I'm using Gargoyle and have flashed several firmwares on my router but I still may not know about something that concerns your DIR-825 so if you're not sure about something do some reading before flashing.
I don't want to be the bad guy if something goes wrong. -

I've updated my firmware , there is little problem , only my iPhone4S able to connect the network & adjust the router setting , if other laptop connect it says limited access , I cant figure it out what did I missed , any idea? I'm using dual band & Access Point to connect my wireless , the Ethernet can't connect too...
-
So you are able to connect to the router (using a laptop) but not the Internet?
Are you using a modem of some kind? -

This is the modem I'm using. SURFboard SB5101 - Cable Modem - Overview - Motorola Mobility, Inc. USA
My laptop unable to connect, it keep saying limited access for the 2.4ghz/5ghz channel but my iPhone able to connect to website & router. That's weird. -
Check laptop config- is it automatic or static IP, what gateway is it showing and reboot the whole setup upon any changes.

Thanks , just got all wireless network working. I notice my 5ghz performance has reduced , will that might be firmware problems?
or I just need to tweak my settings? kinda new with this firmware lol. -
You may or may not be able to get your throughput up by tweaking your settings. Try a different set of channels too. If you can, set 5GHz to 40MHz only instead of auto if there is such an option. There are probably some other settings that can be tweaked as well. I remember having to do a lot of tweaking for 5GHz after i flashed my E3000 to FW 1.0.04, enough so that i reverted back to 1.0.03. In any case, if you only have a little loss in throughput and you are unable to get it back, i'd say that limiting your roommate's bandwidth usage is worth the trade off. Make certain to change the admin user and password so he won't be able to go tweak the settings behind your back

Yea , I can check my house mate's dl & ul amount now.
Her download is 78.2% , upload 33% , screw it , I gonna tweak the quota now -
Make sure that the connection power is set to "max" and that the channel is 40MHz while security settings are WPA2+AES.
BTW you can make the quotas active at all times except certain range of hours- so you may want to leave her some free download time at nighs. -

I've added quota , my house mate visited every site , it goes to router page directly , why is that? like google.ca = router home page.

Did you choose "When Exceeded: throttle bandwidth"?
If you set if to "When Exceeded: shut down all Internet access" which I think is the default settings than it's possible that she will end up being re-directed to router page. -

Oic , I've choose When Exceeded: shut down all Internet access.
I'll change it to "When Exceeded: throttle bandwidth"
So if I set the download/upload speed to "Only the following host" with iP is the best way right? -
Yes- the best option is to set throttling only for her and set whatever speed limit you feel like.
Also if you feel like it you may decide that this rule is "on" only during the day and let her leech all she wants during the night.
Anything she would download during the night wouldn't count against her quota so it wouldn't start throttling- but that's more advanced setting if you want to tweak the whole thing. -

If I set
192.168.1.101,
192.168.1.248 Always 1024KB/1024KB/1024KB
will that apply to all connection's ip from 101~248?
Currently I'm using ip 192.168.1.100. -
While you may use this IP now there's no guarantee that you will be assigned the same IP later.
The best way to solve this is to go to Connection -->DHCP tab and add both your and her computer(s) to the Static IP list.
If both computers are online you don't have to type MAC addresses- you just chose from the list.
Then you will know for sure that 192.168.1.100 is always your IP- even when you're not online no one will be assigned this IP. In the same way you'll know that her IP is always say- 192.168.1.101
Knowing that you may create a rule that throttles all IPs but yours or the other way around- doesn't throttle anyone but her- you just need to be sure that the IPs will stay the same at all times hence the static IP trick. -

That doesn't mean anything- these graphs present statistic for the last minute.
Change that to one day or month to see how it looks overall.
