Does anyone have a Netgear DGDN3700? How long have they been out for? Trying to get some idea as to how long before we see them in AU.

Do you mean DG ND3700? ADSL modem + router?
If you're considering it I'd advise you bought WNDR3700 and a separate ADSL 2+ modem (which are cheap).
You have to remember that no combo device (and DGND3700 is one) is or will be supported by 3rd party firmware which is a serious drawback.

Thing is I'm used to my Netgear stuff and like it - I wouldn't know which would be a good Netgear DSL 2+ modem to use with it.

To be perfectly honest modem doesn't matter unless you have very low quality line in which case Broadcom based modems are better. Any decent modem would do- if you want Netgear ADSL modem buy whatever is reasonably priced.
It's the router that matters and it would be better to have WNDR3700 which is highly praised, well tested and supported by 3rd party firmware rather than a combo which is neither of those.

I don't think my line is the best. Any suggestion, preferably a Netgear. Is Netgear Broadcom based?

Most Netgears used to be Broadcom based but it's not easy to find out.
As for line quality- log in to the router and copy line parameters here.
Should be Line Rate, Attainable Line Rate (optional), Noise Margin and Line Attenuation.
The only ADSL modem Netgear offers is DM111P for $50.
