Hello, I am pretty new to DSL and Downloading. I have notieced that when I download files (iTunes, anti-spyware, OpenOffice, etc.) the speed will start out around 200-400 kbps then steadily drop to 100 kbps and level out. Is this normal? Could it be a problem with my wireless setup of the DSL provider? Anywhoo, your help is very much appreciated!![]()

dsl, by its nature, caps the user at a certain speed. the max bandwidth varies depending on your provider and/or service plan. not sure why it would drop except that it could just be the other end leveling out the stream to you.

It is not a problem with your connection. It all depends on the speed of the server. When you start a download it starts at a great speed. Then it moves down to the speed that the server is putting it out at.
If you want to test your connection...google bandwidth speed test and you can test your speeds. Most of the time it is a server side problem.
Hope this helps.
Edit: Drumfu beat me.
