Hi guys
Wondered if anyone had seen this kind of thing on any laptops based on the Intel 5300 Wireless kit... My Adamo 13 uses this for WiFi connectivity,
For some reason every time i start my laptop up, the WiFi is available and connects fine, but after about a minute or two it dissapears from device manager, control panel, everywhere..and i have no wireless connectivity at all (says "the device is not connected") .. but when i reboot.. it's there, working fine... am stuck at the moment using a wired connection, which completely defeats the point of me having a laptop in the first place![]()
Am running Windows 7 x64 Pro (Shipped with Vista.. eugh!) .. Didnt have this problem with Vista .. but then that had a whole ton of problems of it's own!! Win7 is just tons faster...
Hoping someone can shed some light on this!
Thanks

Are the drivers up to date?

Hi, thanks for the reply
..
Tried the updated drivers from the Dell website as well as the original ones that shipped with Win7.. surprisingly the original ones didnt seem to give me as much problems as the newer ones.. I've tried rolling back but now am still having the same problem there as well..
I'm considering at the moment a re-nstall.. see if it happens 'fresh'.. then installing each driver one by one until it breaks.. problem is it can be pretty intermittent so its a real PITA to track down..
Are there any specific versions that are more stable than others?

Drivers on the Dell website are from 2009 try more recent drivers from Intel- link in my previous post.

Thanks for the link
.. I've updated the drivers with the latest from the intel website and am currently typing this wirelessly.. not sure if this will dissapear half way through but here's hoping.. used the original drivers from he Dell site which didnt work, the intel auto driver update utility couldnt detect my chipset.. but the drivers themselves seem to be hanging together so far...
Ok check that.. as i was typing this message... guess what... bloody thing disconnected again!! the ProSet wifi software went from 'connected' to 'no adaptors installed'.. so bloody frustrating!! just switched to wired connection to finish posting...
Thing is, its more than likely a s/w issue, as if i reboot it comes back up straight away.. then doesnt even die, it just dissapears after a few minutes... i've actually seen the device dissapear from network connections and device manager...
Any thoughts?
Thanks again.

Make sure that power management settings for the Wi-Fi card are set to max performance/no power saving.
