I recently replaced the stock Dell 1390 WLAN adapter to a SparkLan a/b/g/n adapter with the Atheros AR5008 chipset on my Vostro 1000.
With the Dell card in, the WiFi LED indicator (next to the power button) would stay lit upon turning on the laptop. Now, when the laptop powers on the WiFI LED continually blinks. Sometimes it blinks faster and that usually occurs when I'm downloading at a high rate. I called Dell and they said since the new card isn't made by Dell they wouldn't help me get rid of the blinking, or tell me why it was even happening in the first place.
Anyone have any ideas? Outside of covering the light with electrical tape?I would like to either stop the blinking or keep the light on... anything but an annoying blink! Thanks in advance.

If it blinking indicating traffic it's may be working fine as long every things works fine. You may look at your advanced port settings and verify the energy management is not trying to turn it off.
You may also have a BIOS settings too. -
I just figured this out for my Acer Aspire 4520: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=3152207#post3152207
