I have the above laptop fitted with the N-1030 wireless card + Bluetooth 3.0. Both it and my Nokia mobile phone recognise each other, and when I tested the Bluetooth connection for the first time yesterday, the laptop could play a song off my mobile.
Tried Bluetooth again today and when I double click on the Nokia icon on the laptop, I now get "Intel Bluetooth service view has stopped working". Also the message "Device driver software was not successfully installed"
Since then, the laptop cannot play songs off the mobile. However, both it and the mobile can still send and receive audio and video files.
The 'standard modem", "imaging responder" and "audio/visual remote control" list are all ticked - I assume because they are working correctly, but not for "Bluetooth peripheral device" as there is "no driver found" against it, and the system suggests I go look for it after Windows has tried to itself.
I just need Bluetooth for sending music/pictures/video so am not sure whether I need this driver. But it's even more odd that the laptop was able to play my phone's songs (which I found out my accident), but can't anymore, seemingly without this driver, but if that was the case, how was it able to play it yesterday?
Any advice received gratefully.

I have a similar problem with my new 14R with the intel 1030. I've tried drivers from the dell site and from intel, no luck so far.

Providing the laptop/mobile pairs ok, you can still send/receive files by clicking the BT icon from the system/notifications tray in the right hand bottom corner. But I can't seem to do it if I double click the BT device (my cell) icon in the device and printers box. I get the "intel BT service..." msg and Windows 7 saying that due to a problem, it will stop the program. That prevents me from calling up the BT operations and settings box and making any connection between laptop and mobile at all.
So I am relying on the BT icon from the systems tray although its still annoying with the yellow exclamation mark by the device icon and knowing some features worked before. -
Well, I have (had) the same problem on my Dell XPS 15 (L502X) and it took me 2 nights and several reinstalls to track it down.
The solution (at least in my case) is that McAfee deletes the preinstalled driver file C:\Program Files (x86)\Intel\Bluetooth\devmonsrv.exe because it thinks that it's infected with a trojan. This file is used for the 'Bluetooth Device Monitor" system service, which can't be started once the file has been deleted, and the bluetooth connection stops working as it should. I could send files from the notebook to my phone but it was impossible to establish any connection from my phone to the notebook.
What helped was to download the latest driver from the Dell site, TURN OFF access scan in the McAfee virus scan console and install the driver. After a reboot devmonsrv.exe ist still there and sending files from my phone to the notebook works like a charm. You can also try to copy the updated 'clean' devmonsrv.exe (see attachements) to the folder mentioned above. Had to split the archive into 2 files using 7zip.
Edit: I'm using McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.8
Edit2: omg, I really hate these stupid low filesize restrictions: Please rename the files to devmonsrv.zip.001 and devmonsrv.zip.002 before extractingAttached Files:

wow wildsau thanks very much. can you provide the link to the dell driver as it's easier for me than to extract zip files? I typed in the name on the Dell website but could not see anything.
won't McAfee delete the driver again when you've turned the access scan back on? I wonder how I can still send/receive files between the laptop and phone using the system stray icon. -
The file is part of the driver package R298244 for the Intel 6230 WLAN BT combo card which I have in my XPS. Just enter your tag number on the Dell support site to get the correct driver, you should find it listed under networking, the one for BT.

Just installed avg on xps 17 and got the devmonserv.exe threat detected... Smelled like a false positive but I wanted to be certain. Thanks guys!
-
Several rather useless AVs see it as suspicious or a threat but it's not.
See the report here. -
any idea why i cant extract the files? i keep getting an error saying the file is in
valid -
Yeah, the same thing happens with me. Is there anywhere else you might be able to host the file in one piece for us to download. Been trying to fix this problem FOREVER, I just need that stupid file, ughhhh :-\
-
Here you go.
-
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! That worked like a charm, you are the best! How long will you be hosting that file? There are a few people on other sites who I'd like to link to that if you don't mind...
I seriously can't thank you enough, I've been looking for a way to fix that problem forever!!!
-
The file that is hosted on the forum actually can be unpacked- it's just a bit tricky.
So if mediafire link dies and you guys need it uploaded once more I will do that- just post a request in the thread.
You can link to the thread all you want- I don't mind
-
Thanks so much! I've been pointing others here who have had the same problems that I had. You've all been a great help for diagnosing and solving the problem, especially "downloads" and "Wildsau." Thanks again!
-
Thanks for this...it's incredibly helpful! However, my problem is slightly bigger. My antivirus software didn't JUST delete that one file. I've lost THREE files:
1. DEVMONSRV.EXE
2. MEDIASRV.EXE
3. OBEXSRV.EXE
Best I can tell, it took them all out at once. I downloaded DEVMONSRV from the link you provided and replaced it, so that's now taken care of. I'd hoped that I could fake it with that one file. Unfortunately, I'm still getting the same error messages...I assume I've got to have the other two files, also. Any idea where I can find the other two missing files?
Any help would be appreciated!
Dell has suggested that I just restore my computer to factory defaults, but I loathe the thought of reinstalling everything! There's got to be a simpler solution. -
hi for the past one month i have been facing the problem "bluetooth peripheral device driver" not installed i downloaded the demonsrv file from link mentioned above.but i dont know where to paste it
plz help me -
Okay, I FINALLY fixed this issue for myself. I was missing all 3 files, devmonsrv.exe, obexsrv.exe and mediasrv.exe. I kept getting the error messages when I tried to repair or uninstall.
Here is how I fixed it. I opened the bluetooth folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Intel\Bluetooth. Then I ran the repair through the control panel. When the error message came up, I simply clicked on the bluetooth folder instead of closing the error message out. The 3 files were in the folder, but they disappear as soon as you close the error message. I copied the 3 files to the desktop. Then I closed the error message. I then copied the 3 files back into the bluetooth folder.
At this point, the 3 files still weren't executable, presumably because of the error message, BUT I went to the Intel site
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=20129
And downloaded the bluetooth files again. This time the install went perfectly! No errors, and all 3 files are there!
Hope this works for you.

Greetings -
Would appreciate a link to download the devmonsrv file. I have been having the identical problem with my XPS 15 Win7- 64bit.
Thanks in advance -
Here you go [ LINK]

Many thanks. After getting kicked off the site on the first connection by my AV software (McAfee) I persevered and finally got to download the file OK. Installed it in the Intel/Bluetooth folder and was then able to uninstall the BT software and re-install the update rom DELL.
All OK now. -
hi i downloaded this but still the rar file is corrupted.. -
I re-downloaded it right now and unpacked with WinRAR and it's fine.
-
okay i redownloaded it just now.. and its fine now.. sorry bout that.. what do i need to do? i'll just paste it on programfiles/intel/bluetooth?
do i need to change the file name?
do i need to restart?
thanks alot for replying! -
Hi all there! I have the same problem with my bluetooth device on my L702x since the 1st day! Please I need a link for all 3 files, not only 1. All 3 files on my laptop are missing.
Many thanks in advanced. -
When I try running this, it says I must close certain applications. At which point, I choose the "Auto-Close" applications button, and then it proceeds to run. When approaching the full install however, it says I do not have full authority to install? What's up with that?
Additionally, I have downloaded the devmonsrv and put it within the bluetooth directory, and I'm still gettting the crash bug when I attempt connecting blue tooth devices.
Any more help anyone?
The odd thing is, I have all of these files in the Bluetooth folder:
1. DEVMONSRV.EXE
2. MEDIASRV.EXE
3. OBEXSRV.EXE
Yet it still won't work.
The problem occurs when I attempt clicking on the so deemed "Already paired device." It doesn't have trouble pairing, it's just that I can't do anything with it :'( -
@ Downloads :
Could you pls. share the devmonsrv.exe file again ? The media fire link is dead and when I'm trying to extract the Rar files shared in page 2,I'm getting corrupted rar error message. Thanks -
Here it is.

How did you run the repair through the control panel?
