I got this puppy in May of this year, and it occasionally drops the WiFi connection.
Now this has been determined that it is not the computers or laptops that are faulty, since it seems improbable that 2 motherboard's WiFi cards die, a PCI wifi card dies, and 3 laptop cards die all at the same time.
Running FW version 3.10NA (north america)
Here is a pic of my setup for WiFi - Note that changing the chanel to 1 did help to make the connection dropping less frequent.

Any ideas of what to do to make it completely stop dropping connections?
-
How many other wireless networks are there in your vicinity that operate on channel 1? If there are a number, then it's possible that there's enough interference that it's causing the router to drop out.

You don't mention your wireless adapter, guessing Intel 5300? I have had tons of trouble with this router and the intel 5300.
The most stable connection I have managed is do what you do but change the cipher to AES from TKIP and using driver version 12.0.0.78
I keep hoping a firmware revision fixes it, but am not hopeful.... -

I swear, I have not had a disconnect for two months until the moment I answer this thread and then boom--down goes the connection. HA!
I hate this stupid router...gonna dive into the old router box and find me a Buffalo..... -

You should take a look at the DIR-628. I have one running in my condo and at my parents' place. It's as stable as a rock. The only downside is you can't run 2.4GHz and 5GHz at the same time.

WiFi adapters :
IBM - Intel 1395 ABG WiFi
HP - Boradcom MaxPerformance BG
Media PC - Airlink 101 Super G

We are running on Chanel 1, people in our complex all run on 6...so there is no real problem there. -
any cordless phones or microwave ovens within say, 100 feet of the router?
-
nope, the router is in my room, by my pc. No phones in my room and I am on the second floor while the microwave is on the bottom floor.
-
did you switch to aes?
-
no still running on TKIP, all preivous routers ran perfectly fine on WPA2-TKIP
-
But NOT the DIR-615. I didn't say to change the cipher type on all the previous routers, did I?
I said I had much more stable results on the router you are having trouble with using aes.
Why ask for help and then ignore the suggestions? -
And I only used TKIP on previous routers, I did not go back to the old routers to try to change the "cipher type".
It seems that we both misunderstood each other, and for the record, I was just answering your question, not ignoring your advice.
