Apparently I can't get the turbo memory on my t61 and wwan at the same time, so my question is, do I really need wwan? I'm a college student.
My (limited) understanding of wwan is that it allows me to connect to the internet using cell phone lines for a monthly fee. Is this something a lot of people will be using in the future?

Hmm, depends really.
I use a cell phone as modem, and many others do too. I think it's the future, but you will stay have to pay for it monthly (unless the university provides it for free).
I personally don't think it's worth the cost to get a wwan module, but that's me. -
It's certainly the trends, perhaps the future is here when LTE or WiMAX do their show entrance. You can have a PCMCIA/PCI express card, or use your cell phone as a modem instead, but some plans are cheaper if you use the latest option because the data upload is included, even the caveman knows it

Another way to look at it is, do you need the turbo memory?

I personally think is a waste of money turbo memory.
Do I need WWAN?
