I am trying to repair a friends Dell Vostro 1500 with Windows 7. The current driver installed for the Broadcom(I think) card says it is updated and working properly. However when I try to connect to any network through wifi it wont even pick up a signal. It doesnt even look like its trying. It has an X over the icon in the bottom right.

I dont think it is off. I have tried playing with the switch on the side but no such luck. I cannot seem to find the driver for Win 7 for the card but I have not looked too hard yet. Anyone have any ideas why it was say it is working properly but not work at all?

Does the light for the wifi come on. Have you gone to where the connections are shown and checked to see if it is disabled there.
