I've got a Linksys 4200v2 with a laptop client that has an Intel 5300 with 3 antenna. I am trying to get to the 300 or 450mbps speeds, but can't seem to do it.
I seem to be able to get 217Mbps on both the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands. Does this seem to be a NON-bonded speed? How do I enable bonded speeds?
Here is what is wierd, when I enable 40MHz Channel width on teh 5GHz band, the laptop cannot connect. If I drop it down to 20MHz, it will connect.
What are the settings I need to reach 300 or 450mbps speeds? Or am I not reaching it because there are other networks around me?
Does the 2.4 and 5GHz band need to be set with the same settings? I mean, do they use each others bandwidth to achieve 300 or 450Mbps?
Thanks for the help.

Have you checked your channel width for your wireless card in Device Manager? Also, both router and card have to support the same standard. Check your wireless bandwidth. The ideal band is 5GHz for anything above 54Mbps due to the large amount of devices on the 2.4Ghz band.

@NismoZ
217 mbps is bonded speed- anything above 150mbps means you're running 40MHz channel.
Make sure that you have it set to 802.11n on 5GHz too.
Last but not least- no 2.4GHz and 5GHz don't have to use the same settings and are not used together in any way- SSIDs, settings and paraphrases can be different. -
I get an avg. of 240 - 270Mbps with my E3000 w/ dd-wrt and I believe the Intel Centrino 6200 AGN that comes with the Envy 14. (Laptop not around to verify at this time)
It seems some firmware has the ability to increase OR decrease the speed.
And afaik it should be set to 40MHz and 5GHz in order to achieve those high speeds. -
I have the 5GHz set for Wireless N and 40MHz, but the laptop won't join that network. Thats wierd.

In Device Manager>Network Adapters select properties for your network card and select the Advanced Tab. Make sure that an entry such as "802.11n Channel Width for band 5.2" has the Value: Auto. I will bet that it is set to "20Mhz Only".

Good guess, but I checked it. Set for auto on both 2.4 an 5GHz.

I use a Netgear WNDR3300v1 Dual Band Wireless 300N Router with NETGEAR WNDA3100 v2 600N usb adapter, 5Ghz band, connection speed : 270Mbps-consistently, the whole wireless setup ~ $50.00. For some reason your router and adapter are "handshaking" at less than maximum speed-agreeing to connect at lower speeds,,Netgear says use wnda3100 with wndr3300 to get maximum connection speed. I did a write up on these two earlier and mentioned the tidal wave of people that jumped on to this Netgear band wagon.
Microsoft Windows 7 update just found a driver update for the wnda 3100,,ver 5.100.68.48, sweet.
wnda3100 has ver 1 and 2,,300N , 600N.
Cheers
