Every single speedtest.net result that I've seen for an 100 Mbps FTTH connection anywhere on Earth shows 92 Mbps so the overhead is very consistent, but is there a formula for calculating it?
-
92Mbps could be a result of your 10/100 ports on your machine or switch or router? Did you check to make sure everything is 1Gbps?
-
I'm not talking about myself here, I don't even have a 100 Mbps connection. I'm talking about the thousands of speedtest.net screenshots out there on the web.
-
I have had downloads from the internet which reached a sustained 12.1MB/s, which is the absolute max for a 100Mbps ethernet connection. This was through a 154Mbps internet connection.

This is really a question for a
a) Telco OSP engineer
b) Adtran/Alcatel/depending on the region insert the local favourite - customer service rep.
c) possibly some broadband forum
I doubt that you'll find too many people "in the know" around here, but I've been wrong before.
How do I calculate internet overhead?
