A reboot shouldn't delete the adhoc network you've created; you should be able to delete that from your network connections page.

i think the last time i did this i had to set the ad hoc network up and then disable/re-enable the card, maybe not, but try that.

i tried turning it off and on, rebooting, nuthing's working..

I found the answer :D, for any1 who may have the same issue, go to the "network & sharing center" and click "manage wireless networks" on the upper left hand side. Then u'll see a list of networks which include the ad hoc network. Click on it, then click remove :)

    No,
my own laptop is constantly broadcasting this computer-to-computer network. I've verified this by seeing the same "network" in my wireless network list everywhere I go, even if it's in the middle of nowhere with no reception. So, I know the network is being broadcast from my laptop. It also says "On Demand" next to this computer-to-computer network being broadcasted from my laptop How do I turn it off?

ok, wat i did was disconnect from the wireless network i was broadcasting from the notebook. that deactivates it, the laptop doesn't emit the signal unless you are connected to it. then i went to the sharing center, i don't know what it is in XP but u could try "My Network Places(start menu just below my computer)" or "Network Connections(Control Panel)", and the rest is in post #5 hope i helped :D, if not, drop me a line..

Try right-clicking on the icon for the network in question, and then either delete or disable it, whichever option comes up on the context menu.

Right click on the network icon at the bottom right of your screen, and select the last item.

    Wirelessman,
the last option is "Open Network Connections." When I do this, there is no ADHoc network showing. Also, I've noticed everytime I reboot my computer, the C: drive is set to "Allow Sharing" mode. would cause this? Trojan or someone hacked this computer?

Do you disable sharing of the c: drive and still have it reset when you boot up? If so, it would be prudent of you to go a good malware scan right about ... now.

    Yes,
every time I reset the computer, it automatically switches the C: drive to full sharing mode. I have spybot and use that regularly, what is the best malware application you recommend in addition?

Check over in the Security and Antivirus forum, there's a sticky there with the considered suggestions for the best A/V software made by people with much better knowledge than mine about A/V.

I wonder if this sharing of c: drive anomaly is related to this broadcasting adhoc network that is not showing itself under preferred networks, so I don't know how to turn it off!

It could be, if you've got a malware infection.

Whenever I "UN"share the drive, it says because of an administrative selected option, it will revert back to shared on next restart. How do I delete that administrator?

That's a little odd, but doesn't sound out of the realm of possibility for _Vista. Did you have another user account beforehand that had administrator capabilities on this machine that you got rid of?

ok here is the fix in case any of you have the same problem. When you click wireless networks and the type of networks you connect to, select the AD-HOC as an option. Then, you'll see the broadcasting ad-hoc network in the list. Simply, delete it and go back to the options and select the middle one that only allows you to connect to infrastructures instead of computer to computer networks.
