10M was the fastest I could get in my area... but I'm sure you can get faster. The only way I could get any faster was if my house was wired a certain way.

That's the speeds of the wireless and wired connections, not the actual speed of your internet.

DSL is usually between 1 Mbps and 4 Mbps.

My connection speed ranges between the high 6 Mbps to sometimes into the low 8 Mbps.

I've got Comcast's 8 Mbps line, but it's not always that fast.

Doesn't make a difference, though. Even when I had 2 Mbps with them, it was fast.

I have ADSL2+ via Internode. The maximum connection speed of ADSL2 is 24Mbit. However, line quality and distance from the phone exchange come into play, so my modem will only connect at:

9Mbit down (that works out to about 850-900KB/sec downloads)
    1Mbit up

Still fast enough for me I suppose :)

I have had Comcast 8Mbps service for the past few years. They are now gone and Time Warner Roadrunner just took over and service is now 6 Mbps...they want premium for extra speed. In addition...they have messed up our e mail and the pipeline is slow. Terrible service from TWC...

    SO

As of 11/8, I am joining the Verizon "FiOS" network. Signed up for 15Mbps down and 2Mbps up. I will let you know how it goes...

I have a 10/2 Fiber connection at home. Verizon came to the door and asked me if i wanted it for 39.99 a month, which is what i was paying for cable so it made perfect sense.

Anybody know why they limit uploads speed so drastically? I figure if I have 10MB download, at least give me 5MB upload.

Now that we are seeing a trend in higher speeds, what are you doing with all that bandwidth? An ordinary user couldnt possibly needs a 30 MBit or even a 15MBit line.
