So I got a thompson router from my new ISP that is a modem/router combo. Now, I have a Linksys WRT with dd-wrt on it, and I'd like to use the bandwith logging and the other amazing features built in to the software.
How do I go about doing this? Do I set the thompson to a bridge? Any ideas?![]()

Yes, you should be looking to set the modem/router to bridge mode. Once you do, it should operate as a dedicated modem.
Note: Modem/routers often have line diagnostic features that provide useful/interesting data. However, once put in bridge mode, these features (and the modem itself) sometimes cannot be accessed. -

Make sure the WRT has a different IP address than the main. If the DHCP range is the same it causes all kind of problems.

Only problem is that I want to connect the ethernet from the router/modem combo to the WAN port of my Linksys to log internet usage, but it only works when I put it into one of the 4 LAN ports
Also, do I want to disable the DHCP server on the modem? -
Yes, disable DHCP on the modem.
I'm using Tomato firmware on my WRT and am able to access the modem via the WRT's WAN port. There are shell scripts that will allow access to the modem, but I'm not sure what they are for dd-wrt. Just search for:

Never mind, found it: Access To Modem Configuration - DD-WRT Wiki
