I have set my home wireless router to be invisble so I don't see this network in the wireless network list.
How do I connect to my network under XP ?
Of course do I know the name of my invisible SSID..

Don't remember much, I haven't used XP in years.
If using Windows Wireless Zero Config,
You need to add it in manually in network advanced i think, its where it list your favorite access points.
Or take the easy route, that pretty much works for any os.
You temporary broadcast ssid and try to connect. Save the config and then disable broadcast ssid. -
start > Connect to > View Wireless Networks > Change Advanced Settings > Wireless Networks Tab > Add > enter your settings

XP will have problem staying connected with a hidden SSID. I fought that issue then I exposed the SSID and all was well. Just setup good security and don't worry about it being exposed.
There is a away to setup multiple AP to have full wireless in your house, done all the time in commercial buildings. Not all residential hardware supports it. I would take the advice of other and run the Cat6 cable while the walls are open. You do not need to terminate them but at least run the cabling. Then just keep notes as to how far from corners and doors where they are at. With all of the newer easy punch down jacks it's not difficult. Just try to keep it way from AC if you can. -
I have no problems connecting to a hidden SSID with XP.

I think it was Intel that had the problem not the XP- notably Intel 4965AGN and possibly some other cards released around the same time.

That is not true. My old XPS1530 with Intel 4965AGN never has problem connected with hidden SSID.
