My hp pavilion dv6000 has run just fine for over a year and a half now, I have updated when needed, reformatted, defragged and everything, but just the other day, it just suddenly stopped picking up wireless. I have cleaned out the whole thing, put all new updates, and even tried switching from Windows Vista, to Xp, and no matter what I do to it, still no wireless, it justs keeps repeating that we have no wireless adapter... Is it a software problem or a hardware problem?

It almost sounds as though the driver to your wireless adapter has gone missing. Try re-installing it and see if that works.

Wireless not working is one of the symptoms of a dying laptop. Does your dv6000 have nVidia graphics or Intel? If nVidia, then your computer most likely has been recalled by HP. However, from what I've read, they'll only fix it once it has died.

i have tried installing the newest drivers from the HP website but with no luck. where would i go to find out if the laptop and/or card has been recalled. and yes its nvidia.

On the bottom of the computer, you will find your Windows Certificate of Authenticity. Right under that there is a white sticker that should say HP Pavilion dv6000. At the bottom of that sticker there will be your exact model number which will be along the lines of dv6458se (that's just my notebook's model number). Search for that on HP's support site and you will find out if it has been recalled or not. Alternatively, you could always call HP to see if they will fix your computer before it actually breaks.
Hp pavilion dv6000 just stopped picking up wireless signals, hardware or software problem?
