Hey,
I bought a GigaFast Wireless-G Router and am using Telus DSL.
I set up the router and it was working fine until just recently, it has started to have this problem...
Internet Explorer isn't able to connect to any website, but I am still able to download and upload using bittorrent. Also, some instant messenging programs still work...
So, does anyone have any ideas on what could be the problem??![]()
Thanks!

Check for viruses and spyware from downloading torrents?
-
maybe the torrents are taking up so much bandwidth that it causes the webpages to load so slowly that they just time out? i know that when i download off of torrents, webpages download ridiculously slowly....though the page would end up loading if i waited long enough...

Check for viruses and such as already stated but like ejl said when downloading via bt it isn;t uncommon to have trouble surfing sometimes. usually with a reboot it stops (but whenever downloading it can be problem)
-
That's strange. I've never had that problem. How fast is your connection?
-
Yea, BT is a BW Hog, sometimes it take sup all the bandwidth.
For me, sometimes when BT is on, I can't surf the web, but MSN, etc. works.
It doesn't always happens, but at times it does -
That makes me question the speed of your connection...and your pc's power. I've had 10 or more going many times with no issues.
-
It happens a few times as well, but never very often.
Only, lets say, a dozen times in the last few years? -
well, i think my download is capped at around 500kbps and upload around 45. this only happens when my upload is around 30+ and i am downloading around 400+ kbps
-
Yeah it seems the faster your BT download the worse the problems are. But the sooner your download is done
-
get a faster connection -
I had the same problem with LINKSYS router before, IE doesn't work but BT/MSN still work, after upgraded the firmware, problem solved. never happened again.

i have a very fast connection and it happens to me too
it's a function of your client, your settings, what you're downloading, etc. you don't have a bandwidth problem. -
have you checked to make sure your firewall and router are configured properly, and that you aren't blocking the ports to your browser? (this may sound like a stupid mistake, but iv'e seen it before)
IE doesn't work, Bittorrent does...
