Hi all,
This 2200 wireless card/drivers is starting to really piss me off with the constant (~5mins) disconnects from the network.
To regain connection i have to disable then reenable the wireless card.
The AP is ~2m away so its not a signal strength/quality issue.
I am using the latest drivers from Intels website.
Any ideas?

Oh, if it makes a difference i am using Intel "zero point" wireless connection manager too.

I had that very same issue myself. I have heard some pros and cons on the Intel 2200. My first question for ya since it could be something a little different, are you running XP and SP2? Second would be have you tried just letting the OS manage it? I used the connection manager before but didn't care for it that much. Third question, do you have any kind of security enabled?

Im running SP2.
Ive just disabled all the Intel managment stuff and am now using WinXPs, ill see how it goes.
If you mean wireless security, im using WEP required.
If you mean PC security, nothing other than WinXP firewall.

The WEP could be the problem, I had far less issues with disconnects when I switched to WPA after I updated my cards drivers and router firmware. SP2 helps greatly so youre good there. I don't use XP's firewall, I prefer Zone Alarm Pro but the free version is pretty good, just a few less features. I would say try turning WEP off for a bit and if that fixes it then try using WPA. I found WEP to be a lot more touchy than WPA though it shouldn't cause that much trouble. Next best thing would be to switch your firewall. These are all typical things that can cause you to have to disable your wifi and re-enable.

Did you try changing channels ?
Do you have a 2.4ghz phone around ?
Does your neighbour have one ?
I used the 2200BG with XP SP2 and it was fine in a Dell 9300 with the intel control drivers not the windows one , maybe you should turn something off in windows and let the Intel process handle it ? There should be about 5-6 process alone for this one .
And ofcourse there is the "Get all the proper lateset drivers from the notebook manufactor site ( not intel ) and reinstall" ..
BTW : could it be the access point setup ? did you try it with another AP ? or another notebook ? -
Ah yes, I had forgotten that I switched to channel 1 recently to eliminate all my issues. Probably your best bet is channel 1. And I agree with gilo....phones can't be murder on it.

Actually, I'd recommend getting the drivers form the Intel site. They're updated more often than the ones on the notebook manufacturers site. I know one of the recent ones on Intel's site fixed a critical error.
