I've seem the product brief of this card, that can be found in the Intel website, and in it the model of this Wireless card is said to be the 6300ANHMW.
I've also found an older product brief of the same Wireless Card (or at least it has the exact same name) with the model being said to be 633ANHMW. (Which can be found for sale at amazon and other places.)
So, my question is, how are these models different? Are there any differences in performance?
Edit: My question about this is because apparently different Centrino platforms have been used in Intel Centrino Wireless Cards, and according to Wikipedia's chart the Intel Centrino Utimate-N 6300 is listed in 3 different Centrino platforms (Calpella, Huron River and Chief River), so I don't know if that means that this Wireless card has been improved over time...

The adapters are the exact same ones as far as i'm aware. There isn't much innovation coming to wireless adapters as a whole. We see incremental improvements, but it isn't as fast moving as the CPU market for example.
-
It takes a lot longer for them to develop wireless technology. The next big thing is 802.11AC, which won't be available for a while.
-
802.11ac is available now in a couple of routers and desktop cards.
ASUS will be launching their ThunderBolt and 802.11ac laptop next month. -
Hey iaTa, i can read you have the "Dell Studio XPS 1640", How warm is it at this precise time ?
-
On that matter- stay away from 802.11ac for now guys.
It does not improve single client throughput in a noticeable way but it costs like it would.
It will take some time until routers/APs that actually work like they should hit the market and I will update wireless router buyer’s guide when it happens. -
Good that you'll let us know, i'm waiting for AC to change my E3000 to something faster.
-
My 1640 has been running 24/7 for the past 3 years. Cool as beans undervolted C2D
-
Thanks for clarifying that for me guys.
Then I'll buy this wireless card soon.
