I have read around and tried the tricks mentioned and none of them have solved my issue. When I am web surfing my pages will load fast and quick but then my internet will just cut out and the web pages won't load until I refresh them. My router is fine the connection is fine but it still does this. Other times it will load say the index of the website and I will go to navigate to another part and it will just drop instantly and give me a page cannot be found error and when I refresh it loads up the requested page no problem. What can I do about this? My brothers old laptop does this as well now that I think about it.

With more than 1 pc's affected it points to the router.
Make sure you have the latest firmware. If you are on a DSL service make sure your MTU is set to 1492 on lower. When it drops look at the dsl modem to make sure the dsl line is not yellow or red, indicating a problem. May try running cablenut and optimize your connection and see if that helps.
Does the issue happens with both IE and FF? -
My brother has his own house with his own router and it does it at his house too. Right now I am the only one connected to this router. I will go and check IE to see if this happens. My last laptop has a PCMCIA wireless card and that never dropped connection.
-
It would appear that it is about the same in both IE and Firefox.

Check your energy settings, set it so it stays on max power and does not go to sleep. You will have these settings in the Energy CP and Advanced Port Properties.
You may want to run diagnostic on your NB too, may be HW related. -
I have the same problem with my network card.., sometimes its like not loading really fast, or sometimes it only loads like half of the website and when i refresh it loads the other half, even though im only a couple feet away from the router..
And with a wire everything works fine..
Anyone has a solution for this? -
Could be a few things
1. Problem with your ISP
2. Problem with your wireless drivers/card
3. Problem with your router firmware
4. Power saving mode
Please list your routers and ISP. -
I have a Linsys WRT54G and my ISP is Comcast. As I said my old computer worked with it flawlessly so unless something changed in the last 2 days it shouldn't be the router.

I got a Netgear WPN824v2 running latest firmware, got Atlantic Broadband and have the Intel 4965AGN running 1/26/2008 drivers..
Same thing here, with another network card it works fine.., and i already turned off the power saving options on my wifi card, didnt help it though.. -
Wireless N network cards are still in draft. They are not completely finalized yet and do have some bugs. I've been reading the Cisco academy forum and theres been some others experienceing the same problem with the Intel 4965AGN card. Try running the card in G mode assuming you still have your old G router and see if it still cuts out.

With the spec 11n still in draft mfg are not required to have their hw play well with other mfg hardware. Provided you are on the same chip sets, the speeds below 130mbps should not be an issue. As far as different chipsets, mfg did not and has not fix this problem with 11g hardware. Not having this compaitability they are trying to push end users to buy more hardware. So it may get a lot worst till it gets better. I know with Netgear, from being a beta tester for their hardware, the firmware changes daily. I was getting a new release every other day. I just happen to have a setup that was causing major problems with an ISP. If you constantly have problems contact them by Phone and use your free support for the first 90days. See if you can get on their beta tester list. Then you report your problems back to tech that are writing the code. Once you go Beta the std supports end and all support comes from a higher level. It's very hard for a mfg to test all hardware config. So getting on the list you may find a release that corrects your problem. Once they have the normal connection problems straighted out, they then start with all of the option stuff.

So.............what, am I supposed to live with WoW disconnecting me from the server every 8 or 9 minutes? My webpages just failing to load routinely?

You should beable to stay connected even with 11n.
Have you tried lowering your MTU?
Have you tried dropping back to 11g?
But if there is something wrong with the card, overheating, you may need to send it back. HP had a problem with one of their NB, and once found a user returned for a different one. The card was intergrated into the MB so there was no fix. -
How do I go about doing these things?

Connect to the admin page of your router. Under advanced settings (ISP/Internet) and sometimes LAN you will find the MTU. If you don't use the builtin help to locate it.
As far as dropping back to 11g, that will be under the wireless section. Currently you are probably in mixed mode. Do this from a wired connection because normally it will require a mini reboot. -
I have a G router not an N. Just an N card.
-
Then you should have absolutely no problem connecting to your G router and staying connected. Does any other computers connected to this network experience this? It could be the card in your notebook or the router itself. Do you have a spare old wireless router you can test?

Nevermind guys. I uninstalled the driver and program that came on my Dell drivers disk and it works fine! Thanks for all of your help but unfortunately it was something as simple as that.
