Don't know what the differences are but both were recently listed. I am assuming should be available soon as well

Starlight5 Yes, I'm a cat. What else is there to say, really?
@coldcoffee 9560 seem to have some CNVio connector/interface, can't find any info on it. Waiting eagerly for WiGiG version.
-
So I guess that settles it - we're not gonna see three stream cards. Instead they will achieve the same sort of speeds by making channels 160 MHz wide.
That might make it easier for users to upgrade without the necessity to wire a third antenna somewhere but that also means we've been sold three stream routers that will never be used as such, and those of us with wave 1 802.11ac would have to, not only buy a new card but also a new router...sasuke256 likes this. -
Starlight5 Yes, I'm a cat. What else is there to say, really?
@downloads on the other hand such a router will definitely be cheaper, cooler and more compact than 3-stream monstrosities.
-
I don't think so - one stream less means only slightly less power usage by one of the radios, but you still need the same number of radios. And most power usage comes from SoC anyway.
As for the price I bet you that won't happen - they sell number and the higher the number, the higher the price.
An unrelated thing - how quickly will 5GHz band get saturated if we keep using 160 MHz channel width?Vasudev, Starlight5 and alexhawker like this. -
Is that the main difference?
How useful will the Intel CNVio interface be? -
Ionising_Radiation ?v = ve*ln(m0/m1)
Rather slowly. 5 GHz has dozens of channels, compared to the 13 of 2.4 GHz... Not to mention how widely used 2.4 GHz is. -
I'm not sure - I think there are only two 160MHz channels in the US - 50 and 114 and only 6 80MHz channels. I'm not sure how channel bonding works on 5GHz band.
-
Sorry for resurrecting the thread, but I know the difference.
CNVi refers to the integrated wireless portion on the next generation chipsets(CNL PCH-H). They mention CRF, which is a Companion RF module, which will be needed for full function.
It means due to integration it'll be much cheaper because parts of the WiFi chipset will be in the PCH while other part would be in the CRF module.Papusan, Vasudev, HiveMind and 1 other person like this. -
Can any one please confirm if I can replace Intel: 9560 on my Alienware 17 R4, which has a killer 1435.
-
Not the 9560, likely the 9260.
I'm curious how many routers support 160MHz channels these days. 3x3 seems to be less exotic. The 5GHz band is surely bound to get congested quickly with these, though the short range helps in this case.
I'm also curious if the higher bandwidths happen to make DPC latecy worse.Vasudev likes this. -

Ummm... So.... This intel 9260 is a MASSIVE upgrade to the 8265. I'm kind of stunned. The wifi actually connects at 866 now (I run all Ubiquiti gear) and the Bluetooth range is well beyond ridiculous.
Only took a week to get here from Taipei! Not bad at all.
This is what it looks like. Almost identical to the 8265.
This is it going in:

Too late. I ordered it from Newegg. I couldn't resist. Help me, Master Phoenix
I am now parted with my money

I'm interested in hearing what the actual throughput is from someone with 160MHz channels.
This upgrade is more of a side-grade for me, unless I get more throughput although that would require a purchase of a new router as well.
Good news is that being an early adopter of 802.11ac I've had my current one for almost 4 years now, so maybe I would be able to convince myself that this upgrade makes sense. Maybe...
So if anyone has proper hardware on both sides...hmscott likes this. -
I have a symmetric 1gb internet connection. I run these throughout the house:
https://www.amazon.com/Ubiquiti-UAP-AC-HD-Unifi-Access-Point/dp/B01N15FSAG
Wireless internet speeds are about 4-500 megs a sec.
Wired is about 900ish or so megs up and down.
This shows the the VHT160 running....

That's disappointing to be honest. 400-500mbps is achievable on 80MHz channels. It's not that I expected twice that but I was kind of hoping for some 700 mbps or so.
@Ogg How close are you to the router? Is the theoretical speed as shown by Windows 1.7 Gbps or thereabout? -

Tell him you are my friend that just asked you about it and you also want one and before he asks you, do meeting to him how many pieces you want and indicate that you want fast shipping if you don't mind paying extra. He's a trusted seller -

Thank you. Done.

Shipping wasnt slow. It got here in less then a week. Intel hosts the driver download. Drivers that come with a device are ALWAYS outdated and who has something that can read a stupid plastic disk anymore anyways? It showed up in a box in a plastic bag with 2 screws and nothing else.
Installed in 5 mins with no issues.
I'll do some real speed testing later.Drinky and Starlight5 like this. -

Ok so my card was charged and since I bought it from a newegg 'marketplace' they can't just cancel the order without trying to contact the seller. And the seller isn't in USA.
And I also ordered it from the ebay seller (who was very friendly) for $42 total. But now I'm out over $100 at the moment. And I don't know how I'm going to get a refund from newegg, if the order cancel doesn't actually work.
I'm assuming I will eventually. At worst I'll stop payment if I can't get a refund or this order cancelled. And I'm never buying from newegg again after this. -
I'm sure you won't do that. Next good deal (very cheap - very tempting) and you are on the track again, bruh

I love Newegg - free 2-day shipping through ShopRunner (which is free as an AmEx card benefit) - essentially Amazon prime for free...

I've managed to figure out that my wifi endpoints have dual 1 gigabit ethernet ports on them. Once both ports are plugged in and link aggregation is configured at the switch I can see that my machine connects at the full 1733 wireless. Internet speed test was about the same. I need to pop one of my 4 port gig cards into a desktop and setup link aggregation on that and do some testing locally instead of just testing internet speed. I'm thinking speeds should be much faster

@Falkentyne
Just installed mine. Unfortunately the signal strength is weaker than the Killer AC1535 just like the Intel 8260 was. I am only connecting at 175mbps and it fluctuates up to 399mbps. On rare occasions, it might reach 780mbps randomly.
This is connecting to an ASUS RT-AC88U router that is about 13 feet away but is in a small storage room with its door closed although with this same setup/distance, the AC1535 connects at 866 mbps every time all day long.
Now, my internet speeds didn't change so I guess I'll just keep this Intel 9260 for now but I hope I can get a better router in the future that has better range.
I will observe the performance and report back

if shipping to Norway wasn't so expensive I would've sent it to you as a gift if your router is close to your taptop then you wouldn't have problems. -
@pheonix
That has to be a router issue. I'm seeing ridiculously improved performance over the 8265. Speeds like I've never seen on any WIFI connection before. Have you tried connecting to a better router that supports 1733? -
Spartan@HIDevolution Company Representative
1) My name is Phoenix not Pheonix. I don't know who you tagged there
2) The previous Intel 8265 also had range issues with all my previous routers so this is not new to me and I wasn't surprised
3) I don't have any other router now and I definitely am not changing router for a WLAN card. This ASUs RT-AC88U is rock solid
4) At the end of the day, the Killer AC1535 gave me the better range/performance so I'm good. It;s just a 30 USD to try out this new card. -
