hey everyone,
i just bought a dv5t and i had the standard wireless g card installed . After reading up on the wireless n card i am second guessing myself. Will it be hard in the future to install the new N card in the pc? Is there software that needs to be downloaded after making the switch?
Thank You!!

On the bottom of the notebook, there should be a compartment door with a pic of signal bars on it. Unskrew and remove the cover. Inside, you have to just disconnect the wires from the card, remove it, put in the new card and put back the wires. Just make sure you remember which wire goes on which side/port of the WLAN Card.
Trust me, its not hard at all.

Yes, you will have to download the appropriate driver from the Intel web site.

thanks guys appreciate it......where can i get this card?

What card are you talking about?
I suggest the Intel 5300 HERE -
Intel Next-Gen Wireless-N Mini-card (Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100AGN)

I suggest you go with the 5300 instead.
The 5100 has consecutive conectivity problems. Such as dropping connection. The 5300 has the same specs i belive, if not better. -
yea i just read up on the 5300 and the specs are alot better....thanks for the advice man i appreciate it!

Your Welcome.

The i5300 does not work on any of my i945M chipset based Notebooks
I would recommend i965 or newer chipset.
The driver refuses to start in either Vista and XP.
Considered getting a Ralink based card like the GIGABYTE Aircruiser N300 GN-WS30N
This is working rather nicely on my machine and it comes with a fully working Client Utility for Vista.
