The card (gigabyte GN-WS50G, atheros chipset on XP SP3), stops reponding occasionally:
data does not pass, and the and the signal strength/quality meters do not update.
sleep/hibernate and resume do not make the card function, only restart.
i tried to upgrade the drivers(via atheros.cz) but the problem remains.
How to fix this?
-
Is anything getting logged to your event logs? If the thing's dropping out, at some point the driver would try to contact it and fail due to a time-out, which should get logged in the event logs.
-
there is nothing relevant in the event log.
if i disable the wireless connection and the enable it, it shows the message "connect failed!" and doesn't enable the connection.
only after restart, the connection works again. -
Have you removed the drivers, shut down, removed the card, rebooted, shut down, and reinstalled the card and drivers? After removing the drivers, use CCleaner to make sure the install files are gone.
-
it is internal card, not external.
-
It can still be removed, although you woudl need to have the expertise (or the cojones) to crack the thing open and take it apart.
Internal wireless card stops working occasionally
